I’m not entirely sure if this is the right place to discuss this, but I feel it’s time we find real utility for the “useless” NFTs sitting in our wallets. Many of us hold NFTs—like “cars,” “Smurf Ship,” “Rick Grimes,” “Negan,” “Alpha Dragon,” “Snoop Dog,” and others—that currently serve no practical purpose.
I suspect I’m not the only one who’s frustrated by this. Having a wallet full of NFTs that don’t add any real value is something that needs to change. We should explore ways to turn them into assets that are both valuable and engaging.
Imagine being able to ride your Alpha Dragon NFT and fly across the virtual world—or cruise around in your NFT car or scooter. Features like these would significantly boost user interest, add depth to our platform, and enhance the overall experience.
I don’t know what the economic impact would be for the DAO, but my proposal seeks to make this goal a priority within the development roadmap, with a view to improving gameplay and increasing the added value of the platform.
Thank you for taking the time to consider this proposal.
I like the general idea. But I have my doubts about implementation on TSB’s end because they have their own roadmap. I suspect that even if TSB does add this into its roadmap, they’ll ultimately leave the decision to the builder to enable/disable such functions.
This is a great discussion. I think we could learn a lot from how RTFKT has approached utility with their CloneX avatars – they’ve integrated them into various experiences and collaborations. It might be worth looking into their strategy.
@Bonano Completely agree. That said, the reality of product development is that the Sandbox devs have some crucial “boring” things they need to nail first (like game engine performance, experience load times, etc) before they can get to the fun stuff. I think 2025 will be the year they finally get these out of the way and can start making the Sandbox fun.
All this said, if you have ideas on things we can do without the Sandbox’s help (things that are only SAND / NFT trading / selling etc.) Please pitch them to me and I’ll see what I can do.
I must say that development on the platform has had a significant change in recent years, I have noticed that AS4 experiences load much faster than in previous versions.
I understand that there is an order of priorities and I am not going to question that, however NFTs are the main attraction in the sandbox. I would dare to say that there is no metaverse without NFTs, and while the game must necessarily be stable, NFTs must have a genuine utility. Riding the alpha dragon is one example of many.
My goal with my proposal is not about immediate implementation but rather adding one more point to the existing roadmap so that it is taken into account and this gives players and investors a perspective that the items they own are useful for something. Otherwise, why have I bought the alpha dragon or the first snoop dog avatars that I have in my wallet?
And I’m sorry to get into other proposals where I don’t intend to criticize, but if we make room in this DAO to discuss experiences like “DEEP SEA” with an exaggerated budget where with half or perhaps the same amount of money, improvements in the utility of NFTs could be developed. An example of this is magic palette, a product that I’m eager to try.
Ultimately, priorities are priorities and I agree that we must first have a stable platform, however, its would be good to be able to add as a “secondary priority” in the roadmap improvements in NFTs, such as being able to ride our dragons (among other things).
I noticed the same too, Bonano. AS4 seemed to pay a lot more stable and fluidly. The only downside was it was still difficult to develop the games. My team built Floor Droppers, which was in AS4, and there was a bug with the newest patch that broke part of our game and we couldn’t fix it.
More NFT utility sounds like the right way to go about expanding the game.
@cryptodiplo is kinda right here; sentiments shared by @DAO above, as well
I want to speak to that briefly:
TSB DAO Admin team is working hard to get an updated road map from the TSB Dev Team. This will help inform our SIPs immensely, so we can refine and time them to fit into the roadmap.
However, in the meantime, our community should not give up on trying to influence the development roadmap with our suggestions.
One of the key challenges we face as a DAO is turning “ideas” into concrete plans for development and implementation. But the clearer we can make our “asks” of the Dev Team at TSB, the better off we are in being heard.
So, when great ideas get traction, it’s wonderful to see the discussion move towards exploring HOW TO make it happen.
