SIP-39: Pausing The Sandbox DAO

The tail (DAO) should have moved quicker to swallow the head (TSB). The reason we’re here is because TSB was mismanaged. Seb B was not a good manager. He has an excellent set of skills he used to fly around the world advocating continuously for TSB, which was fantastic, but in terms of managing TSB, it was a disaster. Who knows what Arthur was doing as we never hear from him.

I knew things were bad when TSB stopped paying @KamiSawZe who along with Panda are the primary public faces of TSB. And stopping the weekly streams was insanity.

Roblox and Fortnite are multi-billion dollar companies making millions for their creators. No reason TSB couldn’t have slid into that space. A lack of mobile client is laughable.

If the DAO is paused, it won’t come back. I’d vote not to pause it. Run it on fumes, somehow. At least until we learn what sort of ridiculous plan they are going to give us for Sandbox 3.0.

Who controls that massive wallet full of Apes and other ETH assets? Lets start selling off some NFTs. Wasn’t there about $4m in NFTs in 2025 dollars?

Sandbox employed some of the most talented creatives I’ve seen. What a shame :frowning:

Thanks @Lanzer . I voted NO. Put it in maintenance mode, don’t pause it.

I remember when the community felt it didn’t have much influence in how the sandbox ecosystem developed and I don’t want to return back to that :slightly_smiling_face:

The DAO was the single biggest change to turn that around

GM @Lanzer

I totally get where you’re coming from—the DAO was a huge step forward in giving the community real influence.

That said, I voted yes on SIP-39 because it was proposed by sandbox.game (who seeded the DAO initially), and it feels like a deliberate pause to conserve resources while they push Sandbox 3.0 forward.

GM y’all! Haven’t posted much, but I’ve been reading and supporting different initiatives here in the TSBDAO since it went live. Voted on all SIPs, and through the roller coaster ride that befell The Sandbox Game the past 6 or so years I’ve been in it.

I remember being excited for the DAO as it gave the community (Sandfam) the much needed sense of ownership and sway in terms of how The Sandbox is shaped. Admittedly, I was a bit reserved in participation having experienced firsthand how messy governance could be, in the political-sense, having been both an advisor and council member of the NEAR Foundation’s CreativesDAO vertical. That said, I’ve seen more active participation here than in other initiatives by TSB that actually pushed for retention and discourse.

We’ve all seen the rise and fall of creator studios and builders in TSB, we’ve said hello and goodbye to too many people in the TSB team in every level from Community, Regional Hubs, to the Admin folks that ran the different depts. Despite the rough history, I still think the TSBDAO should continue on, if not a guide, then a crutch as the Sandbox trickles down into v.3.

I’m in agreement with the folks here that some SIPs need pausing, there needs to be an overhaul with management of funds, councils, and protocols to ensure the SIPs are being followed through in good faith. But a complete and total pause would be too much of a shock in a what already evidently looks like a sick man.

I’m voting “NO“ for now with what little VP I have, hoping some of the terms be changed in favor of continuing with a skeletal ops and reforms in conjunction with the v.3 roadmap, but dropping this thought here as an unsolicited comment and warning that this could be at worst a death sentence to the DAO as it was for many other DAOs in the past, or at the very least, a clear “EXIT“ sign for those who are still around believing in the Metaverse.

Cheers! :clinking_beer_mugs:

No shutdown desired. I agree with suspending new SIPs for the time needed to reorganize. Shutting down the DAO would be a step backward — the real question is: what would come next?

Voted: 40% Yes // 60% No

My vote is a clear “No.” It is disheartening to see this SIP handled in a way that clearly indicates the outcome has already been determined.

Well, this sucks, because TSB voted YES with their massive $8m wallet, I guess. The DAO didn’t act quickly enough to cut its umbilical cord :frowning:

Agreed. I thought we had more runway than this. It’s difficult to keep the faith in situations like this.

Limited communication. Feelings that the controlling party is acting disingenuously. Seeing a retracement back to legacy patterns of one-way-street behavior.

I’m sad to see it go this way, and the thing that hurts the most is knowing it didn’t have to go this way :frowning:

Hello Admin Team,

Following the update around the potential pause of SIPs and transition toward TSB handling, I wanted to seek clarity regarding the current standing of Sandbox Nigeria, which is still under Admin Review.

While the proposal has not yet been approved, we have already generated early traction in good faith — onboarding creators and builders into the Forum and broader Sandbox ecosystem, alongside community awareness initiatives that are producing visible engagement.

Given this situation, could you please clarify:

• Whether this pre-approval progress will be taken into consideration within TSB’s evaluation or transition process
• If there is a pathway for this momentum and community onboarding work to be formally recognized or continued under a different framework
• Or if all in-progress SIP initiatives under review will simply be paused without continuity

This will help us properly manage contributors, partnerships, and ongoing community expectations on our end.

We’ve done so much work to be abandoned on that SIP. Our prove of work is massive and needs to be compensated or put into consideration.

Appreciate the guidance.

I Don’t agree with the Pause

Hello @Victoran ,

As per the framework requested via SiP-39, all new submissions are paused. Your initiative have not reached « SIP » status yet as curation was still on going. Therefore, if SIP-39 comes to pass, your idea and its curation will be paused, with no compensation. In the mean time we have paused all curation, pending the outcome of this SiP.

As a general reminder, the admin team is not the author for SiP-39. We are only responsible for its execution, if/once it passes.

A good reminder. Thank you for everything you and the DAO Admin Team have been doing for us, Cyril.

Sad to this direction. I voted against. Once “paused” I do not foresee a restart. Hoping for the best though.
