❌ Application #28 Grant Proposal for Nestora

I have something else in mind, it’s different from Nestora Education concept. This is an on-ground, builder-focused initiative that brings unknown devs together to create real games and utilities using The Sandbox tools. It’s hands-on, competitive, and built to spark new adoption where it hasn’t reached yet.

Sandbox Talent Forge – Nigeria Edition
Category: Game Creation / Community Events / IRL Hackathon

Proposal Summary:
Sandbox Talent Forge - Nigeria Edition is a 4-week IRL + hybrid hackathon event designed to discover and empower new game creators using The Sandbox ecosystem.

Taking place in Nigeria, the event will help 10 grassroots teams build original games or utilities using Game Maker and VoxEdit, while receiving mentorship from top local devs.

It starts with a public seminar + team formation meetup, followed by team pitching, a 2.5-week remote build phase, and ends with a live demo day on August 28, where 2 top teams win $1,000 each to take their projects forward.

Why This Matters?

  1. Expands The Sandbox into an untapped talent pool in Nigeria

  2. Drives new on-chain content and adoption of Game Maker/VoxEdit

  3. Establishes a replicable hackathon model for global grassroots builders

  4. Builds visibility via TV, digital ads, flyers, and public events

  5. Sparks community feedback for a future Sandbox Nigeria chapter

Timeline:

  1. Aug 9 (Fri) – IRL Seminar & Networking (team formation)

  2. Aug 10 (Sat) - Pitch Night (10 finalist teams selected)

  3. Aug 11-26 - Remote Build Phase + Weekly Check-ins

  4. Aug 20- Mid-build IRL Mentorship Session

  5. Aug 28 (Thu) – Final Demo Day & Prize Ceremony

  6. Aug 29 – Final DAO Report

Deliverables:

  1. 10 original Sandbox-native games/utilities

  2. 20–30 builders onboarded

  3. Three IRL events + 1 mentorship meetup

  4. 50k+ organic reach through media, ads & local content

  5. 1 final KPI report + highlight reel for DAO

Grant Request: $8,000 (~31,500 SAND)

  1. Team Participation: 10 teams × $150 =$1,500
  2. Winner Prizes: 2 × $1,000 =$2,000
  3. Judges (4–5): $100/week × 4 weeks =$2,000
  4. Promotions: Flyers, ads, TV segment =$1,500
  5. Venues: 3 IRL events =$800
  6. Reporting: Final visuals & report =$200

Team:
Organized by local creators and builders in Nigeria, with participation from experienced dev judges and support teams. This is a grassroots event rooted in community and talent discovery.

Bonus Insight:
This event will gauge real interest in launching a Sandbox Nigeria community in the near future (like Solana Nigeria or Polygon Africa).

Reporting Plan:

  1. Mid-build forum update (Aug 20)
  2. Full DAO report (Aug 29) with media, KPIs, and lessons

“Some of the best builders aren’t online, they’re on the ground, waiting to be seen. This event gives them that chance.”

Let’s build the next generation of Sandbox creators.

I’m appreciate the revamp. I don’t think this is a good fit. I have 2 grants that already do IRL events, one of them in Nigeria.

If you can think of something that isn’t article writing, or X space hosting, or IRL workshops, or video creation, I’m happy to consider it.

Nice. This is a good idea for The Sandbox DAO Grant Program > OPEN: Season Rewards & Game Creation

Community Engagement doesn’t do game creation, but Season Reward & Game Creation does.
