Hi Kevin! Thank you for taking the time to submit a grant application.

Apologies, I won’t be able to approve this grant. Our DAO has funded about 5 conference events already and I don’t have $8K left in my budget.

Hello @Lanzer, we are happy to make subtle adjustments to the budget. Can you share insights on what is feasible? We believe this event to be one that really benefits SandBox as its not just a conference, but a long duration pop up city experience.

I not sure any part of funding a conference is feasible. We’re already doing workshops, meetups, and contests.

I do see that it’s a 2-week event. How much of it did you intend on attending?

@Lanzer The pop-up city is 2 weeks, but we’re attending for 1 week. Actually, the funding isn’t going for the conference mainly, but to the Sandbox activations happening there. During the pop-up city (which has 200+ daily attendees from different parts of the world), we’d have reached a great number of persons. Additionally, we can have a dedicated and branded Sandbox booth on the conference day (which has 1000+) attendees to let them learn about the Sandbox ecosystem.

During the ETH Enugu '25 week, Sandbox creators like @Victoran & @Ekeson would be onground to do a lot of onboarding too so it would be a wholesome experience.

We can take out the meme contest if you don’t see it as valuable atm.

I think this is something that would be worthy of an actual SIP, versus a grant for SDGP. I won’t be able to approve this Grant, however, I encourage you to post this to :light_bulb: SIP: Ideas subforum as an actual SIP to the DAO.

Instructions are here What to post in All Ideas?

Thank you for your support @Lanzer. I did think about submitting it as an SIP, but the timeline is sort of the issue. The ETH Enugu '25 pop up city runs from August 4th - 16th. Ideal timeline SIPs take is around 2 weeks (and this would subtly affect our planning and schedule). Since it is in line with the goals of the SDGP, wouldn’t it be possible to give it a trial? Happy to make any refinements to budget or the proposal as per your recommendations @Lanzer

Ah. I see. Yes that would be an issue. I don’t know what you could refine it into that would work. Funding a conference isn’t something I can fund. Workshops, meetups, contests is something we’re already doing.

How about a live game testing of Sandbox games at the ETH Enugu '25 experience? @Lanzer

Good thinking…I can’t accept that either. It would need to be something I haven’t funded yet that is unique to community engagement. People coming by a booth and playing the sandbox for a few minutes doesn’t fit within that.

@Kevin_Chibuoyim

I got some messages on your behalf from 2+ approved grant authors that they intended to go to Enugu.

I have at most $500 USDC left. Would this be enough to host a Sandbox-specific panel where our grant authors be guest speakers on the panel? If you need more guest speakers, it’s possible that I could message the co-founder, Sebastien Borget, to see if he is free to attend. I’m unsure if he is available.

Hi @Lanzer. $500 may not be enough support, but we’d take it on, to kickstart a relationship and provide value for a start. I have spoken with the team and they’ve said they can make available 2 speaking slots during the pop up city for the grant authors or sandbox guest speakers to speak, we can convert this to a panel if you prefer that. Indeed, it would be nice to have the co-founder, Sebastien Borget, speak virtually if he is free to attend as this is the first Ethereum Pop up city & Conference in the region.

I’m not sure I fully understand, so the $500 would be enough to get us a panel for only 2 panelists?

That’s confusing to me. If it’s enough to fund a panel with an moderator, why is it limited to 2? There were 3 who contacted me on your behalf. Them + Seb would be 4, so we’re already over our limit.

Apologies for not being clear. What I inferred was, 2 solo speaker sessions. But since you prefer a dedicated panel session, yes, we can have that. What are the next steps? @Lanzer

Yes, a dedicated panel session works for me.

Next step, please modify your application to reflect everything we’ve discussed. I’ll conduct my evaluation after that

Hi @Lanzer , I have updated the proposal now. What’s the next steps?
