Building the Future: Ethiopian Creator Bootcamp for The Sandbox

1. Project Overview

This project seeks to onboard and empower a new wave of Ethiopian creators, students, and developers into The Sandbox metaverse through a structured, 6-week virtual bootcamp. Our goal is to provide accessible, beginner-friendly education around Game Maker, VoxEdit, NFTs, LAND ownership, and the Sandbox creator economy. Through live workshops, Q&A sessions, and practical assignments, we will train at least 35 participants to actively participate in The Sandbox as builders, designers, and digital entrepreneurs.

The bootcamp will be led by an experienced team of Web3 educators and 3D creators, conducted via Zoom, Discord, and Telegram, ensuring inclusive, hybrid access across Ethiopia. Top-performing participants will be rewarded with Sandbox-branded NFTs and SAND tokens, encouraging long-term engagement and contribution.

2. Problem Identification

Ethiopia is witnessing fast growth in its digital adoption, with youth-driven innovation, strong tech universities, and an emerging Web3 community. However, there remains a significant gap in education and onboarding for metaverse platforms, especially The Sandbox.

Local digital artists, game enthusiasts, and developers often lack structured training in VoxEdit, Game Maker, and NFT marketplaces, which prevents them from monetizing their creativity in the global Web3 space. Without focused onboarding, The Sandbox risks missing out on a talented and creative Ethiopian youth base eager to participate but lacking exposure, mentorship, and resources.

3. Solution Approach

We propose a six-week digital bootcamp to onboard Ethiopian creators into The Sandbox ecosystem. The program will include:

  • 6 live workshops (2 Game Maker, 2 VoxEdit, 1 NFT/Marketplace, 1 LAND & monetization)

  • Hands-on sessions with feedback and project reviews

  • Step-by-step tutorials on minting NFTs and listing assets on Sandbox Marketplace

  • Educational sessions on LAND, monetization, and governance in Sandbox

  • Incentives through NFTs, SAND tokens, and certifications

  • A final “Creator Showcase” to highlight participant creations

Community-first engagement will be built through Telegram and Discord, while reusable learning content and mentorship pathways will sustain impact beyond the program.

4. Impact Measurement (KPIs)

The program’s success will be measured by:

  • 35+ participants onboarded into Sandbox Discord and ecosystem

  • 6 workshops delivered with at least 70% attendance rate

  • 8+ asset submissions created with VoxEdit or Game Maker

  • 3+ NFT uploads (or mock demos) to Sandbox Marketplace

  • 75%+ satisfaction rate from post-bootcamp surveys

  • 3 top projects showcased in the final live event

We will also track community growth, social engagement, and continuity of projects post-bootcamp.

5. Technical Implementation & Timeline

Milestone 1 – Content & Setup (Weeks 1–2)

  • Finalize workshop curriculum (Game Maker, VoxEdit, NFT minting)

  • Publish promotional content (flyers, registration forms, social banners)

  • Launch bootcamp Discord & Telegram communities

  • Grant share: 30% ($900 USD)

  • Proof: Curriculum doc, registration portal, Discord server, social assets

Milestone 2 – Training Delivery (Weeks 3–4)

  • Host 6 workshops (Game Maker, VoxEdit, NFT/Marketplace, LAND)

  • Run live Q&A sessions and project feedback labs

  • Collect participant assignments

  • Grant share: 50% ($1,500 USD)

  • Proof: Workshop recordings, attendance sheets, screenshots, mid-bootcamp survey

Milestone 3 – Showcase & Reporting (Weeks 5–6)

  • Host final “Sandbox Creator Showcase” with live demos

  • Reward top 3 participants with NFTs/SAND tokens

  • Submit final impact report with analytics and testimonials

  • Grant share: 20% ($600 USD)

  • Proof: Event recording, participant survey results, final PDF report

6. Team Qualifications

Our team includes Ethiopian Web3 educators, digital artists, and developers with a proven record of teaching blockchain, NFTs, and emerging technologies to youth in Africa. Past achievements include:

  • University blockchain workshops in Addis Ababa

  • NFT & creative economy training for local artists

  • Community-building events on Web3 adoption in Ethiopia

This experience uniquely positions us to bridge the knowledge gap and integrate Ethiopian creators into The Sandbox ecosystem.

All: I’ve moved this from :speech_balloon: General to :light_bulb: SIP: Ideas

@Tenmen: thank you for this submission!

@Delegates, @domainallocators, and community: any thoughts or feedback for on this idea?

I no longer warmly welcome ideas related to TSB training. The return on this kind of training activity is small. I don’t believe it makes a real contribution to the TSB ecosystem.

In short, NO.

Yes, we have done enough learnings

Hi @Tenmen

Thank you for your work in sharing this SIP. Regular training is essential for everyone. However, many feel hesitant about it, and most resources are in English. It would be helpful if you could guide your local community to explore available resources.
