Don’t mean this as negative as it might sound but can we get VoxEdit open sourced? I feel like VoxEdit hasn’t had a step change improvement in multiple years and the most recent update lags significantly more than the prior. I would love to help optimize and make the animation options work properly.

The new VoxEdit is noticeably slow, even on a decent PC. The team really needs to prioritize optimization.

Obtaining high performance 3D experiences, especially an advanced builder for large community can have layers of challenges. most 3D programs have some level of performance challenges. But certainly can be overcome.
Have not tried VoxEdit recently but will definitely take a look and revert on this thread.

Thinking with our team through how we could be of help to the community and build tool ecosystem… probably will have some more info and echo from engineering by end of next week.

Hi @JoseVE - team expressed off the top standard optimization considerations in terms of 3D assets, materials, tris, Z-fighting and other regular 3D considerations.
If the assets are optimized and there are still performance issues it may be underlying software or base engine bottlenecks from Unity.

What do you think about these ideas from @meo?

What’s missing in VoxEdit

  • Glass Shader for Assets: We really need this.
  • We need a polygon editor to hide protruding parts, similar to how it’s done in Blockbench. If that’s not possible, then poorly made assets should be moderated.
