Lions Philippines Sandbox DAO Fundraiser

Abstract:

This proposal requests a DAO grant to fund a charity-driven campaign in The Sandbox, supporting Lions Philippines through the creation and sale of themed NFTs. Modeled after successful initiatives such as the French Red Cross, this project leverages proven engagement mechanics while positioning The Sandbox as the premier metaverse hub for philanthropy. We will execute a framework that combines donor tiers, prize pools, and immersive experiences to maximize participation, establish a replicable model for impact-driven fundraising, and elevate The Sandbox’s global visibility as the leader in impact-driven innovation within Web3.

What we’re proposing - Project structure

This proposal builds on a simple but powerful idea: NFTs in The Sandbox can do more than entertain - they can drive real-world impact. By combining creative design, proven fundraising mechanics, and the strength of Lions Philippines, we are shaping a campaign that delivers measurable results for both the DAO and the community.

Our goal is to launch a charity-focused pilot that demonstrates how The Sandbox can become the premier platform for impact-driven fundraising. This project is structured as follows:

• Key Dates

o Start: October 10, 2025

o End: December 20, 2025

o NFT sales remain open (while supplies last) until February 3, 2026.

• NFT Assets

Each NFT collection will be released in 1,000 copies per type, designed to represent tangible aid for communities in need:

o Lions Vest: Symbolic wearable for Lions volunteers

o Vision Kit: Eyeglasses and vision care items

o Dental Hygiene Kit: Toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss

o Community Meal Pack: Food aid (rice, canned goods, water)

o Children’s School Pack: Backpack with stationery and essentials

Rather than simply selling NFTs, this campaign creates a replicable model for charitable fundraising in the metaverse. It connects donors to real-world impact, maximizes engagement through community-driven incentives, and provides the DAO with verifiable ROI while elevating The Sandbox as a global leader in Web3-powered philanthropy.

How we will achieve this goal - Fundraising mechanics

To ensure maximum participation and measurable results, we are structuring the campaign around proven fundraising mechanics that balance accessibility with strong incentives:

• Total Goal: 80,000–125,000 SAND

• Price per NFT: 60–80 SAND (aligned with historical Sandbox event pricing)

• Prize Pools: Each NFT type unlocks access to dedicated prize pools, scaled to campaign size.

NFT Collection Goal Donor Reward Prize Pool Access
Purchase 1–2 NFTs Standard participation No prize pool
Purchase 3 different NFTs Special recognition + entry ticket 40,000 SAND prize pool
Purchase 4 different NFTs Exclusive recognition + final access 40,000 SAND exclusive prize pool

Engagement Incentive: The more NFTs purchased, the larger the participant’s respective share of prize pools.

This structure gamifies charitable giving, encouraging collectors to engage more deeply with the campaign while ensuring transparency and fairness. By leveraging these mechanics, we align donor motivation with community impact, creating a fundraising model that is both engaging and replicable across future DAO initiatives.

Donor Tier Structure

Each tier rewards supporters based on the number and type of NFTs they collect, offering exclusive access, recognition, and prize pool opportunities.

Tier Name Qualification Benefits
Supporter Own 1 NFT Entry in standard prize pool
Bronze Patron Own 3 different NFT’s Entry in special 40,000 SAND prize pool
Silver Patron Own 4 different NFT’s Access to final exclusive 40,000 SAND prize pool
Gold Patron Own all 5 NFT’s VIP badge and access to all bonus pools
Platinum Builder Purchase 10+ NFT’s Digital certificate, campaign feature, top recognition

Fundraising Target Scenarios

To provide transparency and clarity on potential outcomes, we outline the fundraising target scenarios based on different SAND price points. This allows the DAO and participants to anticipate the total USD value for each fundraising goal.

Target SAND Low ($0.27) Medium ($0.28) High ($0.30)
80,000 $21,600 $22,400 $24,000
100,000 $27,000 $28,000 $30,000
125,000 $33,750 $35,000 $37,500

Campaign Actions & Timeline

The campaign is structured around clear milestones to ensure timely execution, community engagement, and successful NFT distribution. Below is the detailed timeline of actions and key dates:

Date Milestone
Oct 10, 2025 Campaign & NFT sales launch
Oct 10 – Nov 15, 2025 Community promotions, events, and education
Nov 16 – Dec 15, 2025 Mid-campaign push with exclusive unlocks
Dec 20, 2025 NFT sales end
Dec 21, 2025 – Feb 3, 2026 Final claiming and rewards ringdown

Conclusion

This campaign builds on proven platform precedent: previous Sandbox charity events, including the French Red Cross and Ukraine initiatives, successfully raised 80,000–125,000 SAND using similar mechanics. With typical NFT volumes set at 1,000 per item type and prices between 60–80 SAND, additional reward pools are designed to incentivize collectors to engage more deeply and purchase multiple NFT types.

Next steps include:

1. Assembling creative, DAO, and Lions Philippines teams.

2. Drafting a DAO proposal outlining targets, milestones, and NFT designs.

3. Executing NFT creation in VoxEdit and Sandbox Game Maker.

4. Planning and rolling out marketing campaigns and in-game activations for maximum reach.

5. Monitoring performance, reporting results, and optimizing throughout the campaign window.

By combining proven fundraising mechanics with structured execution, this initiative is positioned to deliver measurable impact, maximize engagement, and provide verifiable ROI for the DAO while elevating The Sandbox’s role as a leader in Web3-powered philanthropy.

:face_with_monocle: Thanks for putting together this proposal with such a great cause. I think the core idea is fantastic, especially building on a successful model and using gamification to drive engagement.

However, I have one concern about the funding structure that I think is worth discussing. My main point is that the minimum fundraising goal of 80,000 SAND is the same as the prize pool. This could unintentionally frame the campaign more as a prize event than a charity drive, which would be a shame. For people looking from the outside, it might not be clear what the net amount being donated to Lions Philippines will actually be.

What if we considered modifying the structure slightly? For example, we could set the prize pool as a percentage of the total funds raised, or simply cap the pool at a certain amount. I feel this would help maintain the campaign’s great charitable spirit while also ensuring more transparency.

I’m really keen to hear the team’s thoughts on this. If this part of the structure could be revised, I’d be more than happy to support this initiative. Thanks again for the great proposal.

I reviewed the proposal, thank you for putting it together. I have one quick question.

How will the campaign ensure transparency and accountability in the allocation and distribution of funds raised through NFT sales to Lions Philippines, and what specific mechanisms will be implemented to verify and report the real impact of the donations?

Thank you so much for the thoughtful feedback and the encouragement! We fully agree that the funding structure should reinforce the charitable purpose first and foremost, and your point about optics and transparency is well taken.

To address this, we see two different clear paths forward:

1. Remove the prize pool entirely and keep the gamification purely mission-driven (e.g., on-chain badges, recognition tiers, leaderboard shout-outs, and any relevant utilities The Sandbox can offer).

2. Retain the prize element but clearly tie the pool to the total funds raised, explicitly and simply communicating it (e.g., “10% of the funds raised will be raffled to one NFT”), and attaching a transparent breakdown of net proceeds to Lions Philippines.

What do you think? Happy to revise the proposal based on the delegates’ expectations.

Thank you for taking the time to review and engage!

All funds raised through NFT sales will be donated directly to the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) — a trusted global humanitarian organization with more than 50 years of experience administering grants and providing transparent, verifiable impact worldwide.

LCIF maintains the highest standards of accountability and transparency, earning a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, which places it among the top tier of international nonprofits. Over the past five decades, LCIF has administered over 20,000 grants totaling more than $1.2 billion USD to support humanitarian efforts in over 200 countries — including disaster relief, youth programs, health initiatives, and community development. It also runs on a unique membership model (1.4M members pay yearly dues, which fund the logistics and ensure all donations go straight to people in need rather than white collars).

That’s exactly why we’ve chosen to partner with LCIF: their systems already ensure that 100% of all donations are properly allocated, audited, and impact-verified. Every project funded through this campaign will be implemented and reported through the same LCIF grant process used globally by Lions International.

Each step of this campaign and its service outcomes will also be monitored and documented by LCIF Ambassador and DGRS Labs Co-Founder Daniel Elkins, ensuring transparency from collection to impact.

Furthermore, all service projects will be filmed, recorded, and produced in high quality, allowing community members to see firsthand how their contributions are changing lives. Legal papers and videos will be available - showing where every cent went.

I am a Director of a Club within LCIF and an Ambassador of DGRS Labs (dgrslabs.ink, partner of LCIF) - whose co-founder Daniel Elkins also deals with the corporate partnerships for LCIF. I’m here to try to see if a corporate partnership (Sandbox branding on the charity mission) would be possible, before proceeding with the higher-ups.
LCIF has quite a few multibillion CSR partners, such as Johnson&Johnson, Sumitomo Chemical, Elevance Health, Norisys, etc.

My name is Lion Daniel Marney Elkins, and I’m honored to serve as the Official Digital CSR Ambassador for Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF), Co-Founder of DGRS Labs, and Coordinator for Lions Global Service Week Initiatives.

Since 2023, I’ve helped coordinate five international humanitarian missions—mobilizing more than $750,000 in LCIF-backed grants to support communities in need. From restoring schools in India, to providing football kits for 750 visually impaired children in Kenya, to leading a service team to Mykolaiv, Ukraine to deliver clean drinking water after the city’s water infrastructure was destroyed—each of these trips has been a reminder of what’s possible when people unite across borders to serve.

:movie_camera: You can see our work and the annual Tell-A-Thon we produce to document global service here:

These initiatives are not just projects—they are proof that decentralized collaboration can drive tangible change.

Last year in Lisbon, I had the privilege of speaking with your Co-Founder, Sebastien Borget, about his vision of creating a “Metaverse for Good.” That conversation stayed with me. I’ve long believed that The Sandbox is uniquely positioned to unite philanthropy, creativity, and community in ways no other platform can.

Today, Lions International—the world’s largest service organization with 1.4 million members across 200 countries and territories—stands ready to partner with visionary Web3 communities like yours. Together, we could empower millions of volunteers, donors, and creators to turn virtual engagement into real-world impact.

Our upcoming proposal aims to demonstrate how digital collectibles can fund real humanitarian aid, bridging The Sandbox DAO and LCIF’s global service ecosystem. But for me, this is not about funding—it’s about possibility. The service trips will continue with or without partnership. What excites me is the opportunity to show the world what happens when good people from around the globe—builders, gamers, and humanitarians alike—work together for a shared purpose.

If you believe in a metaverse where creativity meets compassion, I’d love to collaborate and explore how Lions and The Sandbox can together inspire a new model of digital philanthropy—transparent, inclusive, and world-changing.

With appreciation and service,
Lion Daniel M. Elkins

I read the proposal and as far as I understand, the NFT will be printed and sold, funds will be raised, prizes will be distributed, etc.

The question I would like to ask is do you need a DAO to do this?

Why is it needed?
