Publishing Roadmaps for LAND Owners to Improve Transparency

Urgent Proposal for Regularly Publishing Roadmaps for LAND Owners and Improving Transparency

  1. Abstract
This proposal calls for the regular publication of roadmaps for LAND owners in order to increase the asset value of The Sandbox LAND and restore community trust.

In particular, we encourage accountability from operators regarding the progress of the LAND lending feature and the achievement of past roadmap goals. By setting clear deadlines and content, we aim to encourage operator commitment and revitalize the entire LAND ecosystem.

  1. Motivation
The current LAND market has experienced a significant decline of over 95% from its ATH against both USD and ETH.

Recent news of restructuring, such as LAND floor prices plummeting by over 30% from the previous day, has significantly shaken market confidence. The market reaction to this news was a much larger decline in LAND than in SAND. This is largely due to not only the overall cryptocurrency market, but also the lack of a clear direction for LAND from the operator, and distrust regarding the status of the roadmap for existing LAND owners.

Previously, LAND owner roadmaps have been irregular, and the operator has not provided explanations for what could not be achieved. Investors are particularly seeking a clear explanation of the LAND lending feature, which has been off-target for many years.

The lack of transparency in the LAND owner roadmap makes it difficult for existing investors to plan their future investments and is a major factor in preventing new investors from entering the market.

Many LAND investors have abandoned their LAND and withdrawn from The Sandbox under these circumstances. A small number of LAND investors are willing to take big risks, have open minds, and bear the pain of buying and holding LAND for no real benefit.

But what’s unacceptable is the current LAND Owner Roadmap, which appears to be an abdication of accountability. The new LAND Owner Roadmap needs to have clear deadlines and achievable goals.

  1. Specific Proposal Content (Specification)
The following items will be proposed to the management as essential tasks:
  • Annual publication of a roadmap for LAND owners (preferred date: January 1st of each year)
  • Content: One-year goals and outlook for the period beyond that
  • Quarterly publication of a detailed roadmap for LAND owners (preferred dates: January 1st, April 1st, July 1st, October 1st)
  • Content: Detailed quarterly goals and a review of what has and has not been achieved so far.

Response to Concerns About Roadmapping

  • Regarding resource burden: Reputable companies always set short-, medium-, and long-term goals. Creating a roadmap that only partially discloses those goals does not require significant human resources. Just as writing a daily work report does not interfere with daily operations, creating a quarterly roadmap is not a significant burden. With the use of modern AI technology, this task can be further reduced. Human work will likely involve carefully reviewing the AI-generated roadmap for LAND owners.

  • Regarding the pressure to achieve goals: Businesses are constantly under pressure. LAND investors have also been under heavy pressure and severe pain for a long time, due to the decline in prices from ATH by well over 95%. After the recent news was released, prices fell by more than 30% compared to the previous day, and have yet to recover. LAND investors are under immense pressure and pain. Pressure is not a reason not to publish a roadmap. We hope for ambitious development in line with the roadmap.

  • Regarding confidentiality: We believe there is no need to disclose trade secrets.
Anything that could be exposed to competitors and raises concerns should be kept confidential.
Anything that has security issues should also be kept confidential.
Anything that concerns you about compatibility with other projects should also be kept confidential.
Furthermore, there is no need to include something in the roadmap if it would hinder fast and flexible decision-making.

Even if you are unable to achieve what is on the roadmap, any intelligent LAND owner will understand as long as you provide an analysis and a clear explanation. We are not pursuing minor development delays or detailed technical issues. LAND owners are not looking for a perfect answer.

If the roadmap were published regularly and included goals, results, and analysis, LAND owners who have already accepted significant risks and significant pain would likely not be harshly critical. Management is likely currently receiving complaints about the opaque and slow development process. If the new, regularly published LAND owner roadmap is appropriate, I imagine LAND owners’ opinions, both positive and negative, will be constructive. I imagine management will be more receptive to constructive feedback in the new regular roadmap than to previous complaints.

Management does not need to publish a perfect roadmap from the start; the content of the new regular roadmap can be improved with each publication. Regularly published roadmaps should begin with content that is realistically possible. We humans grow by taking action. Regular roadmaps also grow with each publication. LAND owners who have already accepted significant risks and significant pain will likely rate the new regular roadmap higher than the current one.

We want a rational explanation of management’s thinking and where they are headed. Flexible, ambitious, and rational changes in direction will also be viewed favorably by LAND investors. The labor involved in regularly publishing roadmaps for LAND owners will be AI, not humans. AI doesn’t tire. Humans will mainly be tasked with carefully examining the contents of the roadmap.

  1. Conclusion
Regularly publishing a roadmap for LAND owners will clarify the management’s vision and enable investors to continue investing. The management must demonstrate that LAND is not merely a speculative asset but has actual utility through use and profit generation.

The adoption of this proposal will demonstrate that the DAO’s governance is functioning, demonstrating the functionality of the DAO to influence management. It will also spark outside investors’ interest in The Sandbox, which is the most effective path to restoring trust in The Sandbox.

This proposal is urgent and important, as it will enhance the health of Web3 and demonstrate to society as a whole that The Sandbox is a leading project that will drive the entire DAO ecosystem.

This proposal goes beyond solving a single project’s problems. We believe it will usher in a new era of democracy that will have a significant positive impact on The Sandbox ecosystem and society as a whole.

Thanks for sharing, @XiaoLong !

Any thoughts on this from our community, @Delegates , or @domainallocators ?

I can understand your frustration, but even TSB’s own roadmap consists only of notes on Trello, so requesting a Land Owners roadmap seems a bit utopian.

But the idea makes sense. It’s as it should be.

What are the potential risks for landowners who purchase land for investment without a clear development roadmap?

While I completely share the frustration behind this proposal, I’m concerned about such a rigid approach. In the fast-moving Web3 space, agility is key, and forcing a strict, quarterly roadmap on the development team could actually hold them back. Being tied to a plan made months in advance could make it difficult to seize new opportunities or pivot when necessary.

The Sandbox is undergoing significant changes right now. Let’s wait and see.

The current sandbox roadmap is posted here: https://trello.com/b/yq8i2aLC/the-sandbox-roadmap

Sandbox product team gives itself flexibility, and I think that’s fair. It’s their product, and while SandFam may want accountability, I’m not sure an individual SandFam’s version of accountability is always aligned with the good of the ecosystem (buying and selling LAND, earning money, etc)…just my thoughts though

What does everyone else think?

Thank you for your feedback. The Sandbox is currently undergoing a major transformation, so I would like to make my proposal a regular feature.

First, new entrants have no desire to buy.

Second, existing investors have no desire to hold on.

The current price is the result.

Thank you for your opinion.
I believe that the current state and content of the roadmap will not be well received by investors.
The roadmap requires achievable goals and analysis and scrutiny of past goals.

Thank you for your reply.
I also believe that Web3 needs flexibility.
And that should result in speedy results.
However, I don’t think the content and results written in the current roadmap have achieved speedy results through flexibility.
From the perspective of democratizing DAOs, I think my proposal is important.

Previous roadmaps have mentioned lending, connecting lands to create estates, and creating districts, but there is currently no explanation of these.

In order to ensure the future development of the Sandbox, I think an explanation of the situation is necessary to avoid disappointing investors.

What do you all think?

The Sandbox is currently undergoing internal reform. I want the Sandbox to set achievable goals and publish an analysis of their achievements. We own some of the Sandbox’s assets, such as LAND. I want the Sandbox to become a democratic, progressive system.

We want to change the current uncertain and stagnant atmosphere. We look forward to logical and cutting-edge development.

We are still in the early stages of development, and we want to make regular publication of roadmaps a regular part of our business.

It’s time for change at the sandbox, and we want to make our opinions known to the management.

With the earned support of the wider community, the DAO is the place to set in motion changes and improvements at TSB.

I think most probably agree that some news on LANDS would be incredible. However, there’s a lot of change going at TSB right now. So, in the months ahead we can probably expect development updates.

For now, you’re always welcome to get more support for this SIP Idea or advance other suggestions for improvements to the ecosystem. The best way to get support for ideas is to earn support of voters making appeals to them and possibly incorporating their feedback.

I still think the official roadmap on Trello gives us the assurance we need of what is being developed. I’m struggling to understand what this SIP would do that isn’t already covered
