Rose of Jericho Metaverse Meditation Oasis – Grant Proposal

TL;DR: We propose to create a Meditation Oasis in The Sandbox: an immersive, gamified meditation experience built by Rose of Jericho (https://roseofjericho.xyz).

This 3D meditation environment and mini-game will reward users with wellness points (and blockchain rewards) for practicing mindfulness, improving mental health and happiness.

By leveraging Web3 gamification (e.g. earning points or tokens for meditating), the experience will engage Sandbox players with proven stress-reduction content.

We request 20,000 SAND for development and marketing, plus a small Estate (multiple contiguous LAND plots) to host the world.

I am a former full-time Sandbox team member (2020–2021) who helped grow the platform, and is a committed SAND-token and LAND holders. This ensures long-term alignment with the ecosystem’s success. In building this oasis, we will also attract and inspire Sandbox creators (builders) by showing how mindfulness and well-being can be woven into engaging Game experiences.

Problem Statement and Opportunity

Today’s crypto and gaming communities face increasing stress and burnout. Mental health issues like anxiety and burnout are common among developers and players. While entertainment experiences abound, there are very few purposeful wellness games in Web3. We see an opportunity: The Sandbox has begun exploring meditation (e.g. Deepak Chopra’s “Oasis of Quantum Consciousness”), proving that mindful gaming can thrive. However, there is still room for more community-driven wellness content. Our Oasis will fill this gap by providing an accessible meditation space that reduces stress and boosts mood (meditation is proven to reduce anxiety and improve emotional health). We will create both a relaxing environment (a virtual meditation garden) and interactive mini-games teaching breathing exercises or focus challenges.

  • Metaverse Meditation: Players enter a serene voxel oasis to relax and focus on breath, sound, or visualization. Like a virtual yoga retreat, this space helps players pause from frantic gameplay. It will include gentle visuals (calming nature, flowing water) and guided audio cues (meditation instructions, soothing music) – a “quiet zone” in the metaverse.

  • Meditation Game & Rewards: Alongside free exploration, we will add a casual meditation mini-game. For example, a breathing-pacer or color-focus quest. Completing each meditation session earns players points or even token rewards, literally gamifying mindfulness. As one Rose of Jericho designer explains, “the more you meditate, the more you earn points (and get healthier!)”. This reward mechanism (inspired by our AI wellness app concept) will incentivize regular practice.

By making meditation fun and interactive, we expect players to experience better well-being. Scientific studies show even simple meditation can enhance mood, reduce stress, and improve attention. In the Oasis, people will not just relax – they will “learn to breathe and return to yourself through the power of immersive digital space” as Deepak Chopra envisions. In short, our experience turns self-care into play: a “place to reflect, learn, and have fun.

Proposed Solution – The Rose of Jericho Meditation Oasis

We will build a single-player Sandbox experience on a small Estate (e.g. a 3×3 LAND estate) that includes:

  • Immersive Meditation Garden: A tranquil virtual space (trees, water, light effects) designed for relaxation. Players can wander, sit on meditation mats, or interact with calming objects. Ambient audio guides them to breathe and focus. This will serve as a peaceful hub that contrasts with traditional games.

  • Guided Meditation Sessions: The Oasis will have built-in guided sessions (3–10 minute meditations) that the player can start. These may be voice-narrated or text-guided, teaching mindfulness techniques. Completing a session rewards the player with experience points or in-game tokens. For example, finishing a 5-minute session might unlock a new area of the garden or issue a wearable reward. This mirrors the Deepak Chopra Oasis approach, where “Meditation Moment quests” unlock chakras and teach players about mindfulness.

  • Interactive Minigame: A simple game (e.g. matching breathing patterns, visualizing fractal shapes, or a calming puzzle) integrated into the experience. Success in the game signifies focused attention and grants bonus rewards. Gamification like this has been shown to boost emotional well-being; in fact, The Sandbox’s CCO notes they aim to “bring mental wellbeing to the metaverse through an immersive gaming experience that blends wisdom and play”.

  • Crypto Rewards System: Aligned with Rose of Jericho’s concept, the Oasis will enable players to earn minor crypto rewards for meditating. For example, completing sessions or streaks could grant a few SAND or our project’s token, reinforcing healthy habits. This builds on our ethos: “An AI Agent that rewards you with crypto when focusing on Wellness, Meditation & Fitness”. Tying rewards to meditation turns mindfulness into actionable progress (points and health), echoing our mobile app philosophy that “the more you meditate, the more you earn points (and get healthier!)”.

Together, these elements create a wellness experience rather than a typical high-intensity game. It will make meditation appealing, accessible, and fun. By reaching the Sandbox audience with this concept, we improve individual happiness and introduce a novel genre to the platform.

Benefits to The Sandbox Ecosystem

This project advances The Sandbox’s goals by introducing wellness and learning into the metaverse. Specific benefits include:

  • Enhanced Community Health: By promoting mindfulness, we help players reduce stress and improve mood. As research shows, meditation can significantly reduce stress and anxiety levels. A happier, less-stressed user base is more productive and creative. Encouraging self-care also reflects well on the Sandbox brand as a responsible, forward-thinking community.

  • Engaging New Users: Wellness games can attract both gamers and non-traditional users interested in self-improvement. The experience will be public and free to access, serving as a low-barrier entry point. Casual players (or stressed coders!) may wander in for relaxation and stick around to explore more of The Sandbox.

  • Inspiring Creators: As noted by The Sandbox leadership, bringing mindfulness themes into gaming can inspire the creator community. Nicola Sebastiani (Sandbox CCO) said partnering on meditation content “inspire[s] our Creator community to explore how elements like mindfulness and emotional well-being can enrich their own experiences”. Our Oasis will showcase how to build calm, purpose-driven experiences in The Sandbox. This can spark new projects (e.g. yoga classes in the metaverse, mental-health art projects, etc.) and attract builders who haven’t participated before.

Implementation Plan

  • Phase 1 – Design (Month 1): Build the Oasis landscape and art assets in VoxEdit/ Game Maker. We will create meditation zones and design the garden, water features, and relaxation spots. Simultaneously, script guided meditation audio/text content (possibly in collaboration with wellness coaches).

  • Phase 2 – Development (Months 2–3): Implement the meditation sessions, minigame mechanics, and rewards. Integrate a points/token system for completion milestones. We’ll also test stability and UX, ensuring the experience remains soothing (low UI clutter, gentle transitions).

  • Phase 3 – Community Testing (Month 4): Invite Sandbox builders and players to alpha-test the Oasis. Gather feedback on usability, aesthetics, and reward balance. We may host an on-chain event or Discord campaign (“Try the Oasis”) to involve the community.

  • Phase 4 – Launch & Marketing (Months 5–6): Finalize content (e.g. unlocking additional guided quests) and officially launch the Oasis. We will announce via Sandbox channels and wellness communities. Budget permits paid promotions (e.g. social media ads targeting crypto gamers) and small influencer campaigns. We also plan an inaugural “Meditation Hour” event in-world, featuring a live-streamed guided session.

Milestones will include land allocation, alpha completion of first meditation session, and a polished launch-ready environment. Success is measured by user engagement (unique visits and sessions completed) and positive feedback (e.g. health improvements survey). We aim for at least 500 unique visitors and 1,000 meditation sessions in the first 3 months after launch.

Budget Requested (20,000 SAND)

We request 20,000 SAND to fund this project, allocated roughly as:

  • Development (15,000 SAND): For developer and designer time to build the oasis, program the guided sessions/minigame, integrate rewards, and optimize user experience. Includes any asset commissions (sound design, 3D models).

  • Marketing & Community (5,000 SAND): For outreach efforts post-launch: social media ads, partner community events, token rewards for early users, and possible small grants to influencers or Sandbox content creators who feature the Oasis.

  • Land Contribution: We also request a small Estate (for example, a 3×3 contiguous LAND) from the DAO. This is needed to host the Oasis world. We do not include the LAND cost in the SAND budget. Having a dedicated Estate ensures the experience is always available and can scale in upgrades.

This budget is modest compared to similar Sandbox SIPs (e.g. SIP-33 requested ~$65k USD for a large education program). We focus funds on creative build and outreach, ensuring the Oasis is high-quality and widely known.
