This project will develop an online interactive mini-course designed to simplify the onboarding process for new users of The Sandbox ecosystem. Targeting beginners and aspiring creators, the course will consist of well-structured written tutorials, step-by-step guides, and quizzes to facilitate learning key platform features. The goal is to reduce initial user friction by providing clear, accessible educational content that encourages engagement and early adoption without relying on video materials.
2. Problem Identification
New users often find The Sandbox’s onboarding overwhelming, citing that dense documentation and a lack of engaging, easy-to-digest educational materials contribute to early dropouts. Feedback from the community highlights the need for accessible, bite-sized learning modules that users can complete at their own pace without the requirement of watching videos, which some find time-consuming or inaccessible.
3. Solution Approach
The solution is an online, text-based interactive mini-course composed of concise tutorials, visual aids like screenshots or diagrams, and quizzes to reinforce learning. This approach follows educational best practices such as microlearning and active recall. It ensures accessibility for users with limited bandwidth or preferences against video content while maintaining engagement through interactivity and practical exercises.
4. Impact Measurement
We will measure success by:
Mini-course completion rate (target: ≥70%)
User satisfaction via post-course surveys (target: average ≥4/5)
5. Technical Implementation & Timeline

How did you hear about the Sandbox DAO Grants Program?
Through Twitter
We’re planning to host the interactive mini-course on Notion, initially using a custom subdomain (e.g., sandboxcourse.xyz) with basic branding and navigation via Fruition, Super.so, or Potion.so. These platforms allow us to turn Notion pages into fast-loading, responsive websites with a polished user experience — ideal for low-bandwidth users and mobile compatibility.
If needed, we can also explore lightweight alternatives such as:
GitBook – for structured documentation with integrated quizzes via embeds or plugins.
Tilda or Carrd – for a more design-focused landing/course experience.
Google Sites – for simple hosting with minimal technical overhead.
The idea is to start with a lean, low-cost, and fully text-based platform that allows for easy updates, community contributions, and long-term maintainability. We’re prioritizing platforms that support:
Fast access (especially in regions with lower connectivity)
Mobile responsiveness
Simple integrations (e.g., Typeform or Tally for quizzes)
Thanks for the update @OMOSH. Just returning from a trip and wanted to to be able to go through this thoroughly.
A couple more questions.
-Can you share with me your experience within The Sandbox?
I don’t mind text based but I think visual inclusions will be important to have as well within any tutorial. Images as opposed to video as they are easily handled by mobile and desktop devices. Can support this in your tutorials? You mention to run light, but a concern would be that if one is unable to view a video, playing the game may be hard.
Thank you and welcome back.Appreciate you taking the time to review the proposal in more depth.
Experience with The Sandbox
While we haven’t directly published or built in The Sandbox yet, our team brings strong adjacent experience in:
Web3 education and onboarding – We’ve run several workshops and bootcamps introducing users to decentralized platforms and creative tools.
Virtual world navigation and community engagement – We’ve helped onboard users into other metaverse platforms, guiding them through avatar creation, NFT asset use, and world-building concepts.
We’ve also been actively researching The Sandbox, studying its official docs, tutorials, and community discussions. The proposed mini-course is informed by that ongoing learning process.
Our goal is to build alongside the learners, creating content that reflects the real questions beginners have.
Visuals Over Video — Fully Agreed
Absolutely ,we’re aligned on this.
While our core content will remain text-first, we are committed to including visual elements (screenshots, diagrams, labeled UI walkthroughs) in every module. This includes:
Step-by-step annotated images of Game Maker and VoxEdit.
Visual cues for navigating LAND, importing assets, and publishing experiences
Diagrams to explain platform mechanics (e.g., how experiences link to LAND)
Static image walkthroughs that mimic “video-like” flow, but without the bandwidth cost
These visuals will be optimized for both mobile and desktop, and designed to load quickly.
Playing the Game Without Video
That’s a valid concern. Our position is that video is great—but not essential—for a beginner’s entry point. Our goal is to get users familiar enough to open Game Maker confidently, not to replace full gameplay tutorials.
That said:
Users will be guided through installing and launching Game Maker with screenshots.
We’ll include a “First Time in Game Maker” visual guide, showing what they should expect step-by-step after installation.
Later learning (like logic scripting or experience design) can be layered in with community or official video resources once they’re inside and confident.
Thank you for the thoughtful feedback and for approving our proposal. We truly appreciate the opportunity to move forward with this grant request. We’re excited to begin executing the project and remain committed to delivering quality, accessible content that contributes meaningfully to the ecosystem.
Thanks again for your support . we’re ready to get started!
I hope this message finds you well. We have completed the Milestone 1 and have shared the report .We would greatly appreciate it if you could take a moment to review it.
We extend our sincere gratitude to The SandboxDAO team for their support, resources, and guidance especially @Money throughout this project. Your dedication to empowering creators made it possible for us to design, test, and launch this interactive mini-course for onboarding beginners into The Sandbox ecosystem.
