1. Project Overview
Sandbox Sidekicks is a global hackathon to build tools that simplify access, enhance SAND utility, and support creators. From onboarding portals to asset dashboards and development kits, we’ll engage 50–100 devs globally to create resources that grow The Sandbox ecosystem.
Our target audience includes developers, creators, students from code clubs, and contributors seeking to build complementary experiences and utility tools around The Sandbox.
2. Problem Identification
Although The Sandbox provides powerful native tools, there’s a growing need for external solutions that lower the barrier to entry and expand creative workflows. Builders and newcomers alike face friction in onboarding, managing assets, understanding SAND utility, and accessing educational content.
This is not just a matter of math or calculation—it includes the lack of easy-to-use development kits, learning platforms, integration layers, and modular tools that enable creators to do more, faster. Many creators are reinventing the wheel due to the absence of shared resources or plug-and-play utilities.
We’re addressing the need for a rich ecosystem of external, creator-focused solutions—spanning learning, interaction, and gameplay support—that can improve usability and unlock innovation within The Sandbox.
3. Solution Approach
We will run a 45-day global hackathon initiative, consisting of 15 days of preparation and onboarding, followed by 30 days of active development. This extended period allows for deeper engagement, more refined tools, and higher-quality outcomes. The challenge: build external apps and platforms that support Sandbox users—ranging from development kits, add-ons, calculators, integration helpers, and onboarding portals, to immersive support tools that help users engage with metaverse and role-playing experiences more intuitively.
We will provide starter templates and conduct support sessions in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Our team has experience running similar programs for dYdX, BitMart, CARV, and Forkast, and will ensure smooth onboarding and successful delivery.
4. Impact Measurement
We will measure success using the following metrics:
50+ hackathon participants
10+ tools or technical resources submitted
3+ tools adopted or reused by creators post-event
GitHub stars, shares, and retweets of submissions
Post-event survey results: onboarding satisfaction, perceived value
5. Technical Implementation & Timeline
Milestone | Deliverables | Expected Completion (Days) | % of Total Grant Request | How to demonstrate |
---|---|---|---|---|
#1 | Hackathon setup, onboarding page, partner confirmations | Day 1–15 | 20% | Live registration page, partner logos |
#2 | Promotion campaign, workshop delivery, onboarding assets | Day 10–30 | 30% | Screenshots of workshops, campaign analytics |
#3 | Hackathon execution, support on Discord | Day 16–45 | 30% | Submissions on GitHub, screenshots of active Discord |
#4 | Judging, reward payout, postmortem & GitHub repo | Day 46–47 | 20% | Final report, GitHub repo with entries |
6. Team Qualifications
Our team consists of experienced hackathon organizers and Web3 community builders who have led campaigns with dYdX Foundation, BitMart, CARV, and Forkast.gg. We specialize in LATAM, US, and Europe developer outreach and have strong relationships with code clubs, universities, and influencers in Web3.
We operate through platforms like hackhack.fun and santorocrypto.com, which support hackathon logistics, community engagement, and decentralized growth programs.
Our strengths include hackathon design, Discord onboarding, multilingual support, and event operations. We’ve onboarded thousands of devs across multiple ecosystems and regularly deliver post-event toolkits and dashboards.
7. Budget Allocation & Sustainability
Item | Amount (USD) |
---|---|
Hackathon prizes (1st – $3,000, 2nd – $1,500, 3rd – $600) | $5,100 |
Influencer promotion | $600 |
Operational infrastructure (platform software, anti-cheating, submission management) | $1,500 |
Team coordination & communications (video, audio, graphic assets, multilingual onboarding) | $2,000 |
Technical support (code review, rulebook, dispute resolution) | $2,500 |
Total | $11,700 |
Post-hackathon, we will maintain a public GitHub and optionally turn top tools into maintained open-source repos. We will promote adoption via forums, Discord, and relevant creator spaces. Sustainability is ensured through clear documentation and community access.
As part of our legacy delivery, we will also produce a short video highlighting the most impactful submissions and share it alongside the public code repositories.
