Motivation: One area that I would be great to expand on would be working to grow our multilingual content. While looking into opportunities that my domain can assist in and discussing with DAO Team , this came to mind as a lot of the legwork in research has been done already.
I would love for delegations and individual members to consider potentially taking up this lighter lift. I’d love to hear thoughts. Thanks!
Concept Summary
Expand The Sandbox ecosystem’s global reach by implementing human translations and voice-overs for key educational and onboarding content. Starting with a pilot of 10 strategic languages, this initiative would improve accessibility of The Sandbox DAO’s process for advancing SIPs (Sandbox Improvement Proposals) for non-English speaking communities worldwide, driving adoption and participation in underserved markets.
Current Situation & Challenge
The Sandbox has global appeal but communication is primarily English-centric
Data shows globally diverse interest and untapped potential
New users from non-English speaking regions face barriers to entry
A 10-12 minute template script is pre-prepared; requires translation
Slide deck requires professional localization and translation
Current AI-based translation solutions lack authenticity and cultural nuance
Need for real human voices and presenters rather than AI-generated faces/voices
Involving the community and rewarding their support has secondary benefits
Proposed Solution
Create professionally localized versions of key Sandbox educational content in 10 strategic languages:
Hindi
Mandarin
Japanese
Korean
Tagalog
Turkish
French
Spanish
German
Italian
Implementation Details
Recruitment of native speakers presenters for voice (or video) recordings (ideally community members who we can credit)
Professional translation of existing script/slides into each target language
Budget Allocation (5,000 SAND total)
500 SAND per language
Expected Benefits
Increased user adoption in key global markets
More diverse and inclusive community
Greater participation in DAO governance from international users
Expanded creator ecosystem across cultural boundaries
First-mover advantage in regions underserved by competitors
Success Metrics
Increase in SIP ideas posted on the Forum
More SIPs from a more diverse pool of authors
Increase in overall governance participation from target language regions
Increase in forum and social media engagement from new users
This sounds like a great idea. Just a suggestion, how about using AI to translate? The ease with doing that these days should make it a low barrier to work on.
Of course this is a good and necessary suggestion. Have you ever tried Google Notebook LM?
"Yes, Google NotebookLM can produce content in languages other than English.
Recently, Google expanded the “Audio Overviews” feature in NotebookLM to support over 50 languages, including many Indian languages like Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, and more, as well as other global languages like Spanish, French, German, and Japanese.
You can typically select your preferred “Output Language” within NotebookLM’s settings, which will affect both audio summaries and chat responses. This allows users to create and interact with content in their chosen language, even if the source materials are in different languages."
@hishmad@DAO – Of course, AI will be used for the initial translation of the script, , but then a native speaker is needed to review, revise, and read it.
Yes, we could have AI “read” it too, but we’d love to give SandFam a chance to represent to their regions by being a “talking head” featured in the videos. This (hopefully) strengthens new commitments to the DAO while giving the content a more human feel.
For sure. I think there is a “real user/face” value prop by doing a authentic face presentation.
I love AI, and I do think there is a place for it in marketing, onboarding and education. I believe we will see soon that compelling video content will be higher in converting if real talking head discussion vs. AI voice over. IMHO.
I love this idea! The community is diverse and spread around the globe, and no matter the language, we need everyone involved to help shape our future together. Making content accessible to all will strengthen our community and grow TSB for everyone.
The budget looks fair to me, and I’d love to see more ideas and ways to enhance this initiative. I’ll be supporting it. Also, I agree with @Money, on the importance of human voiceovers over AI — the talking head approach feels much more authentic and engaging.
One suggestion: consider building this out into a community-led initiative long-term, where contributors can earn roles or recognition by helping localize new content as it rolls out. It could really empower global Sandfam to lead in their regions and help grow more leaders in our ecosystem.
I’d be happy to help brainstorm or share more ideas on how this could be implemented if needed! Reach out anytime!
I like this idea. But what content specifically are we looking to translate? Don’t want to just assume it’s valuable when we might already have translations for some things.
