I wanted to share that I’ve given my full personal support to Women in Tech, because we need to have more women Ambassadors who carry The Sandbox around them , not just in Osaka at the Summit but afterwards and talk how great Web3 is and how The Sandbox are actively contributing towards making a difference and build an inclusive virtual world and open opportunities for new Creators to give life to their imagination and be inspired by new opportunities.
If The Sandbox would not be pursuing actions of this kind, then first of all many women would be unaware about us, Web3 or creating games in general and hence we
Hence, voting NO is not about discussing on the immediate economical impact of this expense, but it’s cutting short to any effort at attracting a wider range of creators around the world and make a true difference in people’s mind and to broaden our vision of education to the metaverse.
The requested budget is minimal and doesnt hinder any other of the efforts and initiatives of The Sandbox DAO for this year, so I strongly encourage to trust our recommendation to support this initiative.
Voting NO would send not only a negative message to all the women in tech, who might see a rejection from our community towards adopting The Sandbox, but also to anyone in the future who will attempt an original initiative - as they would fear our community is not welcoming this kind of initiatives.
Please, I really encourage you to change your NO vote into a YES.
There is no possible regrets here, other than missing out on making a great impact.
So our Summit is a place for discussions, high level networking, think tanks, and workshops. There are no booths - it’s not a conference where each person has her/his own agenda. The delegates of the different delegations have a common agenda, so the experience is fully immersive and everyone is on the same page.
The Sandbox will be present in branding yes - logos on all printed and digital materials, in specific videos highlighting our collaboration - but most of all in the stories our teams will be sharing on and off stage about WIT x The Sandbox. And we’ll have the best Ambassador with Seb on stage where he’ll be signing the Osaka Protocol and speaking on a panel.
If there is someone from the Community who would like to animate a workshop, this can be a possibility too!
We also provide each delegate with a "goodie bag "- being physical and virtual. here we can also imagine something from the Sandbox inviting our delegates to join and create? We’re very open to any ideas you think could be good to try and implement
It’s a relief to see that Snapshot has fixed the technical problem. I just confirmed it by updating my profile, and I’m happy to report I voted YES on SIP-22.
I personally viewed this proposal from the lens of “how would I spend these money if it were the last 30k I had on marketing”, and believe that money spent on our target audience (play2earners and gamers) is the way to go.
HOWEVER, Seb makes a good point about how this will be a missed opportunity to reach out to women in the tech space for a relatively low budget.
I’ve given it some thought, reconsidered my stance and will vote Yes to the SIP.
Thanks @DAO for sharing your thought process and being open to changing your position based on new considerations. I hope the partnership with Women in Tech proves valuable for both organizations!
Respectfully to all involved, as I’m sure I’ve made clear how dedicated I am to this project, the fact that the Sandbox continues to use its votes has truly disheartened me. Without Sandbox vote we would not be at quorum. Frankly this isn’t a proposal I care much about but I do strongly care about decentralization, and the progress we made seems like it has been tossed in the garbage.
No hard feelings on anyone voting one way or another, vote your heart. And as always we will persist, just would be nice to not be smacked repeatedly.
I really appreciate you laying this out so openly—it’s clear how much you’ve poured into this project and how strongly you feel about decentralization.
I’m with you on no hard feelings—people voting their hearts is part of what makes a community like this tick, even if it’s messy.
If we can focus on what can be done and works, not on things that are good to do but not necessarily possible to do. Any cool ideas?
A huge thank you to The Sandbox community for voting YES and to everyone who participated in this discussion!
Your support and engagement mean so much. At @WomeninTech , we are excited to bring a meaningful impact to Osaka and beyond, continuing this incredible collaboration that has grown over the years.
Looking forward to making this a milestone event together!
