SIP-29: Live Event with Top Winners of Impact Game Jam

RadicalxChange Foundation is a 501c(3). But we’re not a charity per se, more a civic tech lab / think tank.
The recipient NGOs are registered in their respective countries.

To follow up on @hishmad question: here is the type of initiative we’re envisioning for activation and community build out around TSB experience:

The folks at Puerta18 have created this Notion page to encourage their members to onboard and play in the metaverse.

As they are based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, we’re also thinking of organizing a IRL event and invite TSB folks in the city, i know there are a bunch.

I abstained. I believe the DAO has fulfilled a number of charity missions and I struggle with this SIP’s contribution to our ecosystem. I don’t want to work against this SIP by voting ā€œNo,ā€ and in its current form I do not feel I can vote ā€œYes.ā€

The amount is pretty low (33K SAND), so I may end up changing to a Yes due to that.

I was enthusiastic, but after rereading, I don’t really understand. Why 30,000 Sand if you plan to sell NFTs?

On the other hand, it’s a small budget, did it go through the Domain Allocators? @Lanzer

Also, if I understand correctly, the operation is mainly linked to the sale of NFTs. Wouldn’t it be more interesting to reduce the budget further, and the DAO would provide support for promoting the event at a lower cost?

Last point, were the four chosen experiences voted on by the Sandfam?

If not, perhaps they should be selected by the community.

I don’t know what you have planned, but a vote during the event would certainly create momentum.

I’ve already voted, 80 yes/20 no (from memory), but I might change my mind given the points raised here.

I haven’t seen it in my domain as a grant application.

Thanks @sebga for already participating in the vote. On a few points you raised:
1/ About NFTs & Prize Pool:
We’re experimenting with a player-driven donation model through the impact gaming experience. This approach is meant to create a direct link between impact gameplay and player contributions, reinforcing the idea of engaging gamers as active supporters of the cause of the NGOs
2/ On Experience Selection and Community Voting:
The selected experiences were first recognized during the Impact Game Jam live ceremony in June 2024 as part of the Top 20. We then opened the process to our RadicalxChange community through a Ranked Choice Voting in September 2024

Your suggestion to build more momentum through an in-event vote is a great one @Geraldine @MalikRxC

Thanks for your reply.

  1. This player ↔ association connection is great.
I’m mainly trying to understand the budget.
You’re asking for 30,000 Sand from the DAO and you’re planning to raise 60,000 in the best-case scenario through NFT sales, is that right?
  2. Yes, the 20 experiences were selected by the Sandfam; I was talking about the 4 final games.
But the fact that you’re enthusiastic about the idea of a vote during the event is enough for me and answers my question.

sorry for my late reply @sebga

1/ As per my understand it, that’s correct! The 30,000 SAND from the DAO would be used to fund the prizepool. In parallel, we aim to raise up to 60,000 SAND through the sale of 2,000 NFTs . The NFT is required to access the impact gaming experience. NFT revenue would go directly to the partner NGOs through the sandboxDAO. The prizepool will help attract and engage more gamers. I think, in this setup DAO support acts as a catalyst, while the NFT model enables a player-driven donation mechanism .

2/ Yes, absolutely. The 4 final games were selected from the 20 experiences (chosen by the Sandfam) as we also wanted to onboard the RxC community and encourage their engagement with these impact games. That’s why we created an event vote to identify the top 4 → https://x.com/radxchange/status/1833275902567879149?s=46&t=XterBDGsXdZKOTBmf6xyuw

Good to be back in action on the SIP voting! I voted abstain because I don’t think this SIP will bring a lot of impact on the ecosystem but is still a good and noble idea.
