šŸ¤šŸ½ SIP Establishing a SandFam-elected "Community Council"

Exactly my thoughts. If I were to put my name into the ā€œgoblet of fireā€ I’d hope that I’m afforded enough time to leave an impression to the people I serve in my term.

In regards to the House system, I agree with @theKuntaMC that it is complex and will require a gradual rollout. But, as you’ve said, this is a good way to bring everyone together into the DAO.

Help is available from all of us, be it via DMs or here in the forums. You can always start this on the Ideas page and move from there :+1:t2:

I’d like to formally nominate @PickaxeMaster for CC. He has brought a lot to the table as both a long time creator, a community member and a DAO member.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this :blue_heart:

Take note: y’all can ā€œcommunity nominateā€ this round by tagging people you support and encouraging them formally nominate themselves. They obviously have to agree to run and campaign and do the job they’re elected to, lol – but if someone is ā€œcommunity nominatedā€ and makes a NOMINATION post declaring their candidacy, they will be included on the vote!!

So, we’ve still technically only Lanzer as the only candidate.

But if @PickaxeMaster agrees, we’ve got candidate number two (assuming they decide to declare their candidacy with an original post stating why the community might support them!)

The nomination period is open until January 22nd.

I concur with this sum. I had the same in mind when proposing remunerating them.

Meh. I’m suspicious of giving the CC any kind of salary. I’m my heart I want it like any excitable SandFam does, but I really like the House of Reps (I wanna call it House of SAND) and I wonder if it would cloud the CCs judgement on creating it as CCs successor

I’m also the SIPs coauthor and it looks bad for me to have nominated myself and then version 2 of the SIP gets posted and suddenly there’s a sand salary (lol those words sound funny together).

Wait what, Ambassadors gets 1K SAND a month? Holy batman…I didn’t realize that

Also @PickaxeMaster SHOULD TOTALLY NOMINATE.

I’ll coauthor the SIP with you @pickaxemaster. I have a feeling it’s going to be huge in length.

The good news is…this is very similar to something I’ve already written previously during my competitive gaming esports days and Guinness world record times! Ahhhh the good ole days

I agree to the idea of it being a separate SIP.

Just throwing it out here, perhaps we should make the SIP cover multiple facets of official roles? CC, official Delegates, working groups/other council members, if chosen, gets a base remuneration of 1k sand/month. Anything above that amount is subject to its own SIP.

My reason to suggest this is:

  1. To reward those who are putting in the work for the DAO.

  2. For the DAO as an entity to acknowledge the people who are putting in their time, i.e we the DAO, should not have the habit of forming committees upon committees from thin air to get people to do work just because it’s free labour. If we apply a remuneration program, we’ll then have to be mindful of how we form committees because now it’ll cost us.

3.Reduce the chance of corruption. Being remunerated by the DAO means you are obligated to put the DAO’s interest above your own.

I think they used to get more depending on their performance, before the SIP that revamped the whole Ambassadors’ program. I might be wrong.

Wanna be an ambassador?

SURPRISE! I already applied. :slightly_smiling_face: I didn’t hear back though

When they posted applications with the new Ambassador program, I applied for KOL and a second category.

This thread advanced fast since yesterday!

I see myself as a regular contributor to one of the Houses, helping the community in general, like I’ve always done. As you all know I’m very active, always making events and competitions on the Sandbox., being a CC seems like is a lot of work and responsability.

Personally I rather allocate my time and efforts in bluiding a new SIP regarding the Houses and a fully structured model for the CC. But in the meantime, if the community feels like I would be a good fit representing the SandFam on the CC for now, and IF it doesn’t affect/restrict my work as a Game Creator. I can give it a shot.

Appreciate your trust and recommendation @Lanzer and @DAO

I’ll be gathering all the ideas discussed here, and write it in the SIP Ideas tab, so we can bring all the brains together and come with something that feels logical, fair, sustainable and inclusive for the long term in the DAO.

You have a lot of talent, and your help would make a tremendous difference, so of course yes. The only thing that comes to my mind, if it’s possible and everyone agrees, Is to see this as a SandFam SIP, no indvidual names, a collective idea pushed foward into a SIP. Is it possible @theKuntaMC ?

Please do join on the new thread to be created in the SIP Ideas @DAO your input will be much needed.

One thing this thread brought up, is that the CC is still a concept in development, it’s urgent and it needs to take place as soon as possible, but it does feel like transactionary/temporary until a more flushed down concept/idea/structure comes into place.

For that reason, I believe that this transationary CC shouldn’t be renumerated.

Do we have other supporters for @PickaxeMaster to run for CC?

Sounds like they’re reluctant but willing… : )

Great question. I love the humility. Incredibly honorable!

I see no reason why we can’t collectively advance a SIP without any specific names attached… at least, for something like DAO structure…

Thoughts about this from others?

GM,

The idea behind the SIP author is to designate the beneficial owner of the SIP (for payments, if any), and clearly identifiy the brain behind it so the person can be tagged to answer community questions. From an admin standpoint, it’s also useful to us, in case a single individual were to post SIP relentlessely, crushing all other voices. We want to ensure we have enough diversity in authors (this has not been a problem so far, but we never know. I always plan for the worst and hope for the best ).

In this particular case, I think we can make an exception. Bare in mind that there will be feedback during the voting process, so if no author is identified, who the feedback is directed to?

Alternatively I can sign as Arasakio, the Administrator, on behalf of the DAO, like I did for SIP 1, 2, 3 to keep it tidy. This could be considered an ā€œadminā€ SIP like the one about the budget (SIP-3) for example.

To answer the questions:
1- Not sure a compensation is needed. In case of Yes, 1k sounds fair to me.
2- yes, if there is CC, they should take part as everyone in the dao to the ā€œhouseā€ creation

The idea is interesting but I don’t agree with certain aspects.
For example, a team member could very well be an active member of the community and be legitimate in this position.
What seems most important to me is transparency.

As it stands, I try to read as much as possible, and I find it very complicated.
We are a gamification plateform, we probably need a little bit of politricks but we should keep it simple and fun.

If we vote for this new organisation, ā€œhousesā€ should be sub-dao.
I’m in favor of 6-month mandates revocable immediately if DAO (community) ask for a new vote in the event of breach, interference, lack of involvement.

If ā€œhousesā€ are just working group, ok, I understand and it’s all good., let’s move forward.

Will an elected person have to sign a non-disclosure agreement?

I’m not ok to send Sand to the voter.

I hope I understand the topic correctly, Sorry if I don’t.

I think it’s better to separate the Houses’ idea from this SIP for now. We shouldn’t tie the compensation to it just yet.

The Houses idea is a big one that will require a lot of discussion. As of now, I’m not fully on board with it!
We have a good working system right now. I’m a big believer in the saying: If it’s not broken, don’t fix it. We have this forum and Discord. Considering that not many people are actively engaging with the DAO right now, adding another layer of sub-grouping and splitting the community wouldn’t make much sense.

I think it’s better to keep everyone in one place until we grow big time. However, We could leverage Discord as a trial for separating conversations instead of moving forward with the Houses idea for now!

Discord:
Create a category on the TSB Discord called DAO.
Create channels under it dedicated to the different groups we’re interested in forming.

That way, we can gauge the level of organic engagement to justify the Houses

I support @PickaxeMaster . He’ s a dedicated SandFam who ran the critically acclaimed PickAxeMaster experience and SandFam Cafe podcast: Sandfam Cafe (@SandfamCafe) / X

Interview with PickAxeMaster is SANDDAO 17 if anyone’s interested.

Yes, please. Create a category within the existing TSB Discord. I think that addressed the separation and keeps us integrated with the TSB community.

You’re too kind, and completely not revealing that you have a superior creative business mind (Pickaxe Master experience…SandFam Cafe…others I’m sure I’m not recalling…) :grinning:

No individual names–Totally good with me. I’m with you!

I am of the opinion that an SIP still requires a point man, or a team. Otherwise, when SIPs go into discussions or vote, the general community who may not be (as) engaged here in the forums will be confused as to who exactly is leading the charge on said SIP.

Terming it as ā€œeveryoneā€ is too ambiguous, and brings about the question, who is ā€œeveryoneā€?

I thought there were a channel already no? TBH I’m not checking TSB discord. My intend was always for the conversation about the DAO to happen here.

I fought TSB at first and ask them NOT to create a channel on Discord to avoid having the community split on two forum spaces. But there was conversations about the DAO already happening so a channel got created to funnel them. If we could bring everybody interested by the DAO from the TSB discord to Discourse (here) I’ll consider it a win.

But now that the cat is out of the bag with Discord I guess the only thing we can do is roll with it the best we can like you suggest.

Agreed. It’s better to have smaller SIPs than a monster. Or people will not know what they are voting for. And if they disagree with one part, they will reject the whole thing.
