SIP IDEA - AI Assistant for Voxel Art beginners - VoxAI

1. Project Overview

VoxAI is a live web app that turns any text prompt or image into voxel art images and ready-to-use .vox files in about two minutes, no install required.

We would like to invite the DAO to cover the cost of credits for verified TSB creators to use the tool for free, accelerating asset creation across the ecosystem.

Funding will be released only as creators join and assets are generated, with simple KPIs tied to the number of TSB-verified users and usage.

2. Problem Identification

Small teams waste hours on basic voxel props, and newcomers bounce off the steep voxel-editor learning curve. The Sandbox Hong Kong team has also flagged AI assistance as important to onboarding.

Existing tools start from scratch; VoxAI gives creators a head-start they can then refine in VoxEdit or Game Maker.

3. Solution Approach

Live features (what you can try now): text-to-voxel image, image-to-voxel image, direct image-to-3D, adjustable cube size, revoxelize, instant .vox download.

Future enhancements: auto-rigging, animations, and image-to-video clips for early game teasers.

Potential Integration with TSB Ecosystem: OAuth “TSB-verified”, the option to top up with SAND when credits run out. Quarterly “VoxAI Creator Jam” with DAO-sponsored prizes keeps the flywheel spinning.

  1. Can you provide a specific grant amount and a breakdown of how the funds will be used to cover credits for TSB-verified creators? How many creators do you aim to support, and what is the estimated cost per user?

  2. What are the exact KPIs for success (e.g., number of TSB-verified users, assets generated, or engagement during the Creator Jam)? How will you track and report these metrics to the DAO?

1 - Specific grant amount & credit math

We request up to 48 000 USDC (or SAND equivalent) distributed across 6 milestone gates.

  • $160 max per TSB creator = They could make up to 2 request for a $80 package. 1 Package = 2500 credits (100+ 3D models or 500+ images). More on that in section 2.

  • Target cohort: 300 creators (300 Ă— $160 = 48 000 USDC).

  • Overall timeline: 18 months

  • Breakdown: 100 % of the grant is spent only on subsidized credits; our team covers all infra, support, and marketing out of existing runway.

Definitions

  • Credit Request = one $80 credit pack claimed by a verified creator (initial pack or optional top-up) = 2500 credits. Each creator can make up to 2 requests.

  • Minimum Credits Burnt = To be valid, a creator must have spent 200 credits

  • To request a second package, a creator must have spent a least 1125 credits within 3 months of its registration on VoxAI.

  • Overall Timeline: 18 months

3 - Auth “TSB-verified”:

  • Within Gate 1: Manual verification list from The Sandbox.

  • If gate 2 is reached (optional): Automate verification of creators based on wallet content (no special access required) or other rules/access provided by TSB.

7 - Differentiation vs other AI tools

    • Fine tuned our own text to image model to create voxel art images optimized for 3D generation

8 - Retention & growth metrics

We see VoxAI as the “Asset Maker” that sits alongside Game Maker, lowering the barrier to entry and keeping creators inside the Sandbox orbit for longer.

To prove real ecosystem value we will track:

  • Creator Retention: % of DAO-funded users who log back in 30, 60, 90 days after credits run out (self-paid or SAND top-up).

  • If The Sandbox team is open to it, we’d love to build more bridges between VoxAI and the TSB tools like an export to .vxm. This would make life easier for TSB creators and help us to push more VoxAI users (using tools like MagicaVoxel, Unity) to get into the TSB ecosystem. We could then track how many TSB registered creators use that function.

Conceptually, I love this idea. The main thing I need from your team is proof that you can execute on your vision.

The website is pretty bad right now, and I couldn’t even successfully generate a vox file.

As of now, I’m not convinced of your technical skills enough, but I am happy to be proven wrong.

May I know if you registered on the app product : https://www.voxelai.ai/

To generate a vox file, you have 3 options:

  • Create an image with our text to image feature, once the image is generated, hover it and click on “Generate 3D”

  • Image to image voxel: Insert a reference image and an optional prompt, then once you image are generated, select one and click on “Generate 3D”

  • Direct image to 3D: Input your own image

When you generate 3D, try the voxai v1 model first.

I think small props and similar items could be quite useful. If they were made in parts and then assembled.

Voxedit is partially limited because it assembles large voxels. I believe it would be better to try this when there’s more potential, rather than at this stage.

As this would be detrimental to artists looking for work and be prone to fill the marketplace with lower quality work, I will be voting against this.

I understand your point of view. Just like llms help people to write, we see VoxAI as an assistance, not a replacement or a way to push half baked models. But this could happened for sure.

Drawing a model from scratch, AI production in one piece It is easier than taking poor-quality models and editing them in Voxedit.

I also believe that integration with TSB would be challenging. I would prefer users who want simple models to spend their balance on much higher quality models from the TSB marketplace rather than on AI-generated models.

I completely agree with this view.
