SIP: Sandbox Community Wellness and Sustainability App - Seeking Feedback

Hello Sandbox Community!

We are excited to share a new Sandbox Improvement Proposal (SIP) for the Sandbox Community Wellness App and would love your thoughts and feedback.

What is it?
This proposal introduces a “wellness-focused app” that will reward Sandbox users for engaging in real-world fitness activities and eco-conscious behaviors (like walking, cycling, tree planting, and more). The idea is to connect real-world health and sustainability efforts with SAND token rewards and in-game achievements.

Key features include:

  • Activity tracking with GPS for walking, cycling, and other fitness challenges.
  • AI-driven personalization for wellness goals.
  • SAND tokens as rewards for both fitness achievements and eco-conscious actions.
  • Leaderboards, badges, and NFT rewards to motivate users.
  • Integration of sustainability initiatives such as tree planting and carbon reduction challenges.

Why it matters:
We believe this app can:

  1. Increase engagement across the Sandbox ecosystem by keeping users active and connected to the platform.
  2. Expand the SAND token utility by rewarding real-world actions.
  3. Help Sandbox lead the way in sustainability and wellness, attracting new users who care about health and the environment.

How you can help:

We would love to hear your thoughts on:

  • Potential benefits this app could bring to the community and ecosystem.
  • Ideas for eco-conscious challenges and rewards you’d like to see integrated.
AreThere any concerns or risks you think we should address before finalizing the proposal?

The application overview can be found here

I am looking forward to hearing your feedback! Feel free to share your thoughts, suggestions, or questions in this thread. Let’s make this a collaborative effort!

Thanks,
Andy Hall

Hi! Welcome! Are you new to the Sandbox, or just new to the forums?

I’m just a community member. My feedback to your proposal would be: this is a really unique proposal. I think it would be beneficial to demonstrate some kind of connection between the users of the app and the Sandbox community member (what we call SandFam) to answer the question “are we targeting the right kind of user?”

I also think it would strengthen your proposal to include a conversion metric on app user-to-Sandbox user. Retention is the Sandbox’s largest challenge. If you can demonstrate a benefit to retention. If you don’t, I fear the perception will be that this SIP is great at bringing in new users, who immediately leave because it isn’t for them.

Best of luck! :grinning:

Hi Lanzer,

Thank you so much for your valuable feedback. I’ve actually been a part of the Sandbox community since 2019, and I had the opportunity to lead several projects with Olivex, where we built the fitness metaverse within Sandbox. It’s great to connect here.

The proposal is for a white-label application, specifically designed and customized for the Sandbox community. The initial target users would be Sandbox members (SandFam) only, offering them a unique wellness experience that’s directly tied to the Sandbox ecosystem.

That said, this app also provides an excellent opportunity to bring the Web2 community into the Sandbox. By offering wellness and sustainability incentives, we can appeal to a broader audience and reward their engagement with Sandbox utility tokens. This could serve as a bridge to introduce new users to the Sandbox metaverse through familiar activities like fitness and eco-friendly actions.

The core mission of the app is to keep users engaged with Sandbox on a daily, 24/7 basis, regardless of where they are. By earning rewards for activities like walking, running, and cycling, users stay connected to the platform in their everyday lives. The app also includes social features such as leaderboards, a newsfeed, and opportunities to share updates, news, and educational content with the community.

To your point on retention, I believe this app can help improve DAU (Daily Active User) metrics and retention rates by offering constant engagement outside the metaverse, incentivizing wellness and sustainability actions. The rewards, combined with continuous interaction, provide a compelling reason for users to stay active in the Sandbox ecosystem over the long term.

Thanks again for the insightful feedback, and I look forward to any further thoughts you might have!

Best regards

Andy

Oh!!! Olivex! Yeah I remember that one. I enjoyed jumping around the different fitness arrangements. Came across as a very creative take on fitness. Seems like unique is in your DNA! :grinning:

2019 + Olivex. In that case, you are probably well aware of what I mentioned. What is a white-label application?

What would be your plan on that initial market penetration? I’m not well versed in how well Sandbox and fitness go together.

I do think a really positive side effect from this app would be that it would connect SandFam together. In my opinion, our disconnect from each other always seemed to slow down our growth. This app could be just one way in which to better connect SandFam together. Get communication going, relationships built, which generates growth and ideas.

It’s great to meet and speak with you, Andy! :grinning:

-Lanzer

Despite the fact that I like everything that can make people moving their body and do some exercise if I am ranking this idea on my priority list about where the money should go to developp the TSB this will be ranked at the very end when we would have a big audience and a perfectly running game. Therefore I am completely against this proposal from a TSB investor point of view.

Hi Lanzer, apologies for the delay!

It’s awesome to reconnect with someone who remembers Olivex! I really appreciate your encouragement and insightful questions.

To answer your question, a white-label application is essentially an app that is developed by RewardTrek but branded specifically for the Sandbox community. This means that the branding, user experience, and engagement strategies are fully customized to reflect Sandbox’s identity and culture, providing a familiar and immersive experience for all SandFam members. The app will be entirely Sandbox-branded, making users feel that it’s a core part of the ecosystem, rather than an external tool.

Our approach to initial market penetration is strategic and multi-layered:

  1. We will leverage the existing SandFam community by offering exclusive Sandbox rewards like NFT collectibles, special experiences, and in-game advantages to those who actively participate in wellness challenges through the app. These incentives not only motivate existing users to engage with the app but also strengthen their ties to the Sandbox ecosystem.
  2. We also aim to target Sandbox-adjacent audiences, such as fitness and wellness enthusiasts who may not be familiar with metaverses but are keen on gamified wellness. By providing SAND tokens as rewards for real-world activities, the app serves as a bridge for Web2 users to discover and immerse themselves in Sandbox.

The core mission of the app is to foster 24/7 engagement by integrating wellness and sustainability actions into everyday life, making Sandbox a continuous part of users’ routine. Whether users are at home, at the gym, or even just taking a walk, they can earn Sandbox-related rewards and feel connected to the ecosystem. By encouraging activities like walking, running, cycling, and participating in eco-conscious actions, the app allows users to engage with Sandbox beyond their screens—effectively extending Sandbox into the real world.

In addition to these engagement points, the app also includes a variety of social features such as a newsfeed, activity feed, and leaderboards. These features are specifically designed to foster social interaction and keep the community informed and connected. Users will be able to share updates, see each other’s progress, participate in group challenges, and celebrate milestones together, creating meaningful social bonds and a true sense of community.

To your point on retention, this is a critical focus for us. By aligning the incentives with SAND tokens, exclusive experiences, and in-game advantages, the app not only draws users in but gives them reasons to stay engaged long-term. The real-world actions tied to digital rewards help foster deeper loyalty, while social interactions through shared challenges and community leaderboards build relationships, ultimately enhancing retention and growing the community in an organic way.

Thanks again, Lanzer. It’s been fantastic to chat, and I appreciate your enthusiasm and constructive feedback. I’m excited to continue refining this proposal and would love to hear any further thoughts you might have.

Best,
Andy Hall

Appreciate the response, Andy!

When you said “the app not only draws users in but gives them reasons to stay engaged long-term”, I think I must have missed it; what reasons for long-term stay were you referring to? I read SAND token, exclusive experiences, and in-game advantages as being short-term reasons.

Hope all is well! :grinning:

Hi Lanzer,

Thanks again for the follow-up! Let me expand further on the long-term reasons for sustained engagement, especially focusing on how NFTs, unique experiences, and deeper integration into the Sandbox metaverse can contribute to ongoing user interest.

1. Exclusive NFTs and Sandbox Integration

One of the core aspects of the long-term experience is the ability to earn exclusive NFTs that go beyond mere collectables. These NFTs will be designed to integrate directly with the Sandbox game. Here are some ways this integration could happen:

  • NFT Trees That Can Be Planted in the Sandbox Metaverse: Users who participate in sustainability challenges—such as reducing their carbon footprint or completing eco-conscious activities—will earn NFTs like trees that can be planted in their Sandbox virtual land. These NFTs not only represent a personal achievement but also contribute to building a greener and more interactive virtual space within Sandbox.
  • Character Upgrades Based on Activity Levels: Imagine users earning character upgrades or enhancements in the Sandbox game based on their activity levels in real life. For example, staying consistent with fitness goals could unlock exclusive skins, accessories, or even unique abilities for avatars. This adds a new level of personalization and a real incentive for maintaining engagement over the long term.

2. Personalized Wellness Journeys and Dynamic NFTs

The app’s AI-driven personalization will provide each user with a unique, evolving wellness journey. As users progress, they will be presented with dynamic NFTs that evolve over time based on their actions:

  • Growth-Based NFTs: For instance, an NFT tree that starts as a sapling can grow into a fully developed, majestic tree as users complete more wellness and sustainability challenges. These NFTs can reflect the user’s progress and be a visual representation of their long-term dedication, which they can proudly display within their Sandbox space.
  • Character Evolutions: As users reach new milestones, they could also unlock character evolutions—allowing them to progress their in-game avatars in unique ways that aren’t available through normal gameplay. This direct link between real-world activity and in-game character progression provides a long-term incentive to keep users motivated and engaged.

3. Community-Voted Long-Term Experiences

One of the most exciting aspects of this project is the potential to let the Sandbox community shape its future. The long-term experiences tied to the wellness app could be voted on by the community. For example:

  • NFT Functionality in the Sandbox: The community could vote on what form the NFT rewards should take—whether they provide utility within the Sandbox game, unique aesthetic upgrades, or unlock specific areas.
  • Future Game Integrations: Users could vote on additional features or seasonal events that further link wellness achievements with game-based rewards. This empowers the community to influence how deeply integrated the wellness features become with the Sandbox experience.

4. Social Interaction and Community Building

The app will also create spaces for community building, focusing on the newsfeed, activity feed, leaderboards, and group challenges. These social features allow users to:

  • Share Their Progress: Users can share updates, showcase their evolving NFTs, and celebrate their achievements, which enhances the sense of community.
  • Group Activities: Users will be encouraged to participate in group challenges and collaborate with other SandFam members. This fosters relationships that keep users coming back not just for rewards, but for the social connections and camaraderie they develop.

5. Exclusive Events and Experiences

Users who consistently engage with the wellness app will gain access to tiered experiences:

  • Special Sandbox Events: Virtual meet-and-greets with creators, early access to new parts of the Sandbox, or exclusive invitations to in-game community events. These experiences provide unique, highly valued rewards for sustained participation.
  • Dynamic Seasonal Challenges: New seasonal events and special collaborations could be rolled out, in which users can earn NFTs linked to these specific campaigns, making them more exclusive and rewarding for long-term members.

6. Sustainability and Purpose-Driven Actions

To maintain engagement beyond immediate rewards, the app ties real-world activities to purpose-driven goals:

  • Eco-Conscious Challenges and Charitable Actions: Users who earn SAND tokens through sustainability challenges can use these tokens to support charitable causes or plant trees, directly aligning their personal achievements with real-world impact. This purposeful approach appeals to users who value making a difference, making engagement with the app more meaningful.

By integrating these long-term elements—evolving NFTs, personalized character upgrades, exclusive community-driven events, and sustainability actions—the app aims to keep users not only engaged but deeply connected to both the Sandbox metaverse and the broader community. The integration of community voting to shape the future of the app further ensures that it remains aligned with user interests, providing ongoing reasons to stay involved and excited.

Thanks again, Lanzer. I’m really enjoying these discussions, and your questions are helping refine the long-term vision to ensure we’re delivering maximum value for the community. Let me know if this answers your question, and I’d love to hear more of your thoughts!

What an interesting idea! I think I understand now how it all connects together. Your app will connect fitness activities with sandbox mechanics like NFT assets, avatars, group activities, events, and leaderboards.

As an experience publisher myself, I have struggled with managing leaderboards for Builders’ Challenge 1. Do you have an approach in mind that automates this for the sandbox user, or will it require them to submit screenshots or entries via the app?

AI-driven personalization

Are these dynamic NFTs supported by the current version of Vox Edit and Game Maker or do you need more game functionality?

I’m really enjoying these discussions, and your questions are helping refine the long-term vision to ensure we’re delivering maximum value for the community

Happy to help!

Hi Lanzer,

Thanks again for your enthusiasm and support. Yes, you have understood correctly that connecting fitness activities with Sandbox mechanics like NFT assets, avatars, group activities, events, and leaderboards is precisely the vision we’re going for. Here’s a link to a version of the app to help you understand some of the features. https://justmove.app/

1. Leaderboards & Automation:

You raised an important point about managing leaderboards, especially from your experience with the Builders’ Challenge. We’ve thought carefully about this and understand that manual entry can be tedious and prone to errors. Here’s how we plan to handle it:

  • Automated Leaderboards: Our goal is to fully automate the leaderboard system by integrating the app with user activity data (e.g., steps taken, challenges completed) and automatically syncing this with the Sandbox ecosystem. The app will track fitness activities through GPS or fitness wearables, ensuring activity data flows directly into the leaderboards without user input. This removes the need for users to submit screenshots or manually report their progress.

  • Group Challenge Rankings: The app will also aggregate data across teams or groups, updating leaderboards dynamically for team-based events or group challenges. This can apply to fitness milestones and in-game achievements so users can see how they perform individually and as part of the broader SandFam community.

2. AI-Driven Personalization:

Regarding AI-driven personalization, the app will adapt fitness goals and rewards based on each user’s progress. For example, users who consistently meet their walking or cycling targets will be presented with more advanced challenges or milestones. AI will also help tailor community-driven experiences by suggesting relevant challenges, events, or groups users might enjoy based on their activity patterns.

3. Dynamic NFTs and Game Maker Support:

You asked a great question about whether the current versions of VoxEdit and Game Maker support dynamic NFTs. While VoxEdit currently supports static NFTs, there are still limitations on dynamic NFTs that evolve over time. However, there are ways we can work with the existing tools to create evolving experiences:

  • Dynamic Metadata: Rather than changing the visual form of the NFT itself, the NFT’s metadata (like its description or level) could be updated to reflect a user’s progress. This can be shown visually within the app or as an evolving badge on their profile.
  • Progressive Unlocks: For now, we can use progressive unlocking where completing certain challenges or reaching milestones grants new NFTs or upgrades to existing NFTs. Users might start with a basic asset (e.g., a sapling) and earn new assets (e.g., a tree) through continued participation.

That said, as VoxEdit and Game Maker continue to evolve, I’m hopeful that future updates will support fully dynamic NFTs that change visually based on user actions. This will definitely be something we want to work closely with the Sandbox development team on as the platform grows, and we’re happy to adapt our plans as new functionality becomes available.

Thanks again for helping us fine-tune this vision! These discussions are incredibly valuable, and I’m excited to keep building on this with feedback from community leaders like yourself. Looking forward to hearing any further thoughts you might have!

Best,
Andy Hall

Got it! Makes sense to me! Group Challenge rankings might serve an even more important connection if neighborhoods and districts are implemented.

AI-driven goals that grow harder is probably the way to go!

I’m still learning about dynamic NFTs and metadata-driven NFTs. I didn’t know it was possible to do either!

Andy, seems like you and your team have thought this out pretty thoroughly. I think I’ve offered all the feedback that has come to me when reading your proposal. I wish you the best of luck when you submit it for DAO team review!

-Lanzer

Hi Lanzer,

I really appreciate your kind words and all the thoughtful feedback you’ve provided throughout this discussion! You’ve helped us refine some key areas, and it’s great to hear that the group challenge idea resonates, especially with the possibility of future neighborhoods and districts in Sandbox—there’s so much potential to create deeper connections through that.

We’re excited about where the AI-driven challenges and dynamic NFTs can take us, and as the technology and platform evolve, there will be even more possibilities for innovation.

Thank you again for taking the time to dive into this with me. Your insights have been invaluable, and I’m feeling even more confident heading into the DAO team review.

Best of luck with all your own Sandbox endeavors, and I look forward to crossing paths again soon!
