In short: Apart from character control, this is a very cool update. But the gameplay and dynamics of the game are broken, it is very difficult to control the character’s movement. It is not known where he will land and where he will be after the jump. Water physics are removed, gravity is added. :chart_with_downwards_trend:

:clapper: I recorded a video comparison of both versions of the game, and now I will describe in detail what is happening.

  • The character continues to slide due to inertia, it is impossible to control. It is as if the car is being carried away in a skid while drifting.
  • Climbing stairs is broken, it is very slow.
  • Climbing blocks has accelerated greatly, instead of one block, the character jumps over 2 at once.
  • Due to inertia, the character hits the walls when turning and loses speed.
  • Climbing a slippery ice mountain was not possible in version 0.10, now it is possible, but then sliding loses its meaning. In fact, this is not good. Previously, the character abruptly rolled down.
  • In the water, the character behaves almost like on land. Moves at high speed, sinks sharply, moves up and down. This deprives water of its design and uniqueness.
  • The character’s gravity has increased, because of this he began to hang in the air longer, and fly further than before.
  • Because of sliding, it is not possible to jump at the right moment and the character falls.
  • Now it is impossible to rise 1 block. The character simply jumps over it and falls down. This deprives the ability to rise and move along narrow roads.
  • The character starts abruptly from a place immediately 2-3 steps forward and because of this it is difficult to control him, as a result, being on a small platform it is very easy to fall down.
  • Sliding is now very easy to control, as if it does not exist. This makes slippery surfaces useless. They do not hinder movement at all. The character moves on them very sharply and clearly.
  • Being close to a tunnel, it is now impossible to crawl into it. You need to step back, lie down in advance and crawl. This also disrupts the game’s dynamics and gameplay.

:writing_hand: I asked for feedback from players in discord, but no one is discussing this topic. Unfortunately, 90% of the messages there are “When will I get my SAND?” or “Why did they ban my account?”

:raised_hand: I ask to return the character management system, as it was in version 0.10. Because now it is simply IMPOSSIBLE to play. There is no pleasure from the game, only irritation. :sob:

I’ve noticed some of the stuff you mentioned as well. the movement did look weird to me as well. I’m thinking that’s because they haven’t released the abilities package yet, which was supposed to be in 0.11. The package that includes the fly and double-jump abilities. I’m thinking that might have something to do with it, and once turned on, the movement will be fixed!

You should post this on TSB forums. DAO can’t do much in this aspect since it’s platform.

I share some of your concerns too, but I actually think the movement is more life-like now and it’s what they are going for. Definitely needs refinement though.
