The Sandbox Gateway: Educating and Onboarding Community into the Metaverse

1. Project Overview

This project aims to educate and onboard our growing Nigerian Web3 community into The Sandbox ecosystem through a focused series of online webinars and live sessions. By delivering accessible, engaging content over four weeks via platforms such as X Spaces and Zoom, we will introduce participants to The Sandbox game mechanics, creative tools like VoxEdit and Game Maker, and community participation methods. Our primary goal is to empower attendees with practical knowledge and incentives such as Sandbox assets and tokens that encourage active engagement and sustained use of the platform.

2. Problem Identification

Despite growing interest in Web3 across Africa, many university students and young creators in Nigeria lack targeted education and onboarding resources specific to The Sandbox metaverse. This gap limits their ability to fully participate as creators or players, restricting the platform’s growth in a high-potential market. User feedback and community discussions highlight a desire for practical, incentivized learning opportunities. Addressing this onboarding challenge will expand Sandbox’s footprint, diversify its user base, and unlock creative potential in a vibrant but underserved community.

3. Solution Approach

Our solution delivers a streamlined, accessible online education program consisting of 6 to 8 webinars and live interactive sessions across four weeks. These will cover Sandbox basics, gameplay strategies, VoxEdit modeling, Game Maker use, and community integration. Sessions will include Q&A and hands-on guidance, delivered by experienced Web3 space hosts and gamers. Incentives such as NFTs and tokens will reward participation and motivate ongoing involvement. This online-first approach removes geographical barriers and leverages platforms familiar to the target audience. It offers a cost-effective, scalable alternative to in-person training and large-budget initiatives, ensuring focused learning with direct Sandbox ecosystem engagement.

4. Impact Measurement

Success will be quantitatively measured by:

  • Attendance rates and participant retention across sessions
  • Number of NFTs and tokens distributed as incentives
  • Completion rate of a post-program knowledge survey
  • Follow-up monitoring of participant activity in The Sandbox platform
  • Qualitative feedback from participants on usability and content relevance

7. Budget Allocation & Sustainability

We are requesting a total of $1,500 USD to execute a four-week online educational campaign focused on onboarding new creators and players into The Sandbox ecosystem. Funds will be allocated as follows:

  • Facilitation & Hosting ($600 USD)
This covers compensation for session hosts, moderators, and technical coordinators who will lead and manage up to 8 live educational sessions across X Spaces and Zoom.
  • Educational Content Creation ($300 USD)
Covers research, scriptwriting, slide design, and the development of Sandbox-focused onboarding materials (e.g., guides on Game Maker, VoxEdit, asset creation, wallet setup, and DAO participation).
  • Community Incentives ($300 USD)
A portion of the budget will be used for token or NFT rewards given to participants who complete onboarding actions—such as creating a Sandbox account, building assets, or attending multiple sessions. These incentives promote retention and active engagement.
  • Streaming Tools & Data Support ($150 USD)
Covers streaming subscriptions and internet/data stipends for hosts and core contributors to ensure uninterrupted delivery.
  • Design & Promotion ($150 USD)
Used for the creation of promotional graphics, social media content, and post-session highlight materials to amplify reach and engagement.

Sustainability

All educational resources (video recordings, guides, slides) will be made publicly available for continued learning and reference. After the grant, we’ll maintain momentum through community-led onboarding sessions and integrate Sandbox education into our ongoing Twitter Spaces and workshops. Our active Web3 community will continue supporting new users, ensuring lasting value for The Sandbox ecosystem beyond the funding period.
