To enable Creator Packs: Is there an official asset usage tracking system in place

Hi everyone, I’d like to ask a question and share an idea together.

Inspired by the idea that The Sandbox is like digital LEGO, I’m exploring the concept of ā€œCreator Packsā€ — pre-designed templates that users can assemble step-by-step, using pre-built assets with blueprints.

To make this possible, we need a system that can track asset usage and display metadata like quantity used, remaining supply, or reuse history.

So here’s my question:

:backhand_index_pointing_right: What is The Sandbox’s current policy on asset distribution and usage tracking for NFTs and UGC content?

  • For example, if I create an NFT asset and others use it in their experiences, is there a record of where and how it’s used? Is there any quantity tracking or usage logging?
  • If the DAO or the platform ever supports Creator Packs or modular learning kits, a transparent and standardized asset distribution policy would be a critical foundation.

Would love to hear if any documentation or roadmap exists around this. Thanks in advance!

Ultimately, can The Sandbox clearly define how asset distribution is tracked and regulated?
This seems essential for enabling things like Creator Packs and modular content creation. @Delegates @theKuntaMC

Are you suggesting we ask this of TSB?
please clarify : )

Thanks, Shont!

Asset Type Current Policy Summary Tracking / Distribution Policy
Public Assets Freely available for all users via Game Maker Not clearly defined
Purchased NFT Assets Limited to one-time use per published experience (currently under discussion to remove this limit) No tracking system
User-Created Assets (UGC) Creators can freely use their own assets and optionally sell them in the Marketplace No formal tracking in place

Is this correct now?

I think so

@shont Yes, this is a valid question and it will be crucial to find out how assets will be handled in the future. I think it’s less about tracking and more about availability for certain uses. Right now, I think your outlined list above is correct.

We are huge believers in bundles and asset packs and have pushed for this since the early days of TSB. We see this as a way to equip builders with a full ā€œtoolboxā€ to work on certain themed games. With Magic Realms we want to embrace this concept the best we can and see huge potential that other creators will provide custom asset sets that can be used in tandem with our generative Game Modules or like you suggested, also for a sort of non-automated blueprint idea

One thing that we know is in the works and will come is a new sort of ā€œFree Assetā€ category where a creator can decide to make an asset available for everyone and not mint it into an NFT. While this removes monetization, it allows free usage and distribution for all and crucial for your ideas and our Magic Realms modules.

Another ā€œhotā€ topic for us in all this are the Blocks, as they are shadow-banned kinda in the TSB Marketplace and can’t be searched and monetized at all. But that’s a topic for another day, haha :ice:
