Phase 1: 30-Day LATAM Online Hackathon
- Open to game devs, voxel artists, and traditional Web2 coders
- Tracks: Game Logic, Builder Tools, Onboarding UX, Social Experiences
- All submissions in Spanish, or Portuguese
- Winners get $SAND prizes, mentorship, and IRL travel invite
- Dev-focused, aiming to attract technical talent and expand community tools
Phase 2: In-Person Sandbox Builder Day – São Paulo (SP)
- 1-day event with 60–70 creators at a creative venue
- Live demos, panels, networking and award ceremony for hackathon winners
- Travel support for top 5 remote hackathon participants
- Recorded talks and interviews to promote LATAM talent globally
- Aims to build regional identity, creator confidence, and long-term retention
Outcomes
- 50–100 hackathon entries from new LATAM creators
- 5–10 new open-source tools/templates for Sandbox builders
- 1,000+ new followers/subscribers from LATAM in Sandbox channels
- LATAM-focused builder community seeded with recurring momentum
- Template model for future activations (Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Medellín)
