1. Project Overview
This proposal is for a personal education and onboarding initiative that supports both my growth as a smart contract developer and contributes to The Sandbox ecosystem. I am currently a Python developer who builds functional Discord bots and is transitioning into smart contracts and blockchain game development. The project’s goal is to create beginner-focused content, tooling, and documentation that simplifies onboarding for new creators and builders in The Sandbox, especially those coming from non-Web3 backgrounds.
The project will deliver practical outputs like:
- A live Discord bot that answers FAQs and provides real-time SAND/asset data
- A beginner-friendly “Sandbox Entry Kit” PDF and video content
- Public learning logs on smart contract development
- A final tutorial/workshop walking through a simple dApp concept for The Sandbox
The target audience is early-stage builders, players, and creators who want to understand or interact with The Sandbox but feel overwhelmed by technical complexity.
2. Problem Identification
Many aspiring creators are intimidated by the technical barriers to entering The Sandbox. While the ecosystem is rich, onboarding is still difficult for non-technical users, and overwhelming for solo devs just starting out. There’s a noticeable lack of entry-level documentation, bots/tools for Discord-native communities, and simple learning paths for smart contract development connected to SAND and LAND.
My own experience learning from scratch and not knowing where to begin. reflects a broader problem: access to clear, relatable, and community-native education tools is limited.
3. Solution Approach
This project proposes a hybrid solution: build educational content while learning, and simultaneously ship tools that reduce the learning curve for others. The idea is to take every “aha!” moment I encounter, and turn it into a resource others can reuse.
Approach:
- Document my journey publicly via blog-style updates and short videos
- Build a Python-based Discord bot that answers Sandbox FAQs, pulls live market data, and links to key docs
- Release a Sandbox Entry Kit (PDF + visuals)
- Host a workshop recording: how to deploy a basic contract related to LAND or SAND
By combining practical tool-building with content and making it all accessible in plain English (not dev jargon), this approach helps lower the entry barrier for other self-taught builders like me.
4. Impact Measurement
Success will be measured with the following metrics:
| Metric | Target |
|---|---|
| Sandbox Entry Kit downloads | 250+ |
| Bot server installs | 50+ |
| Smart contract learning logs published | 6 posts |
| Final tutorial video views | 500+ |
| Workshop participation/feedback | 30+ attendees or viewers |
I’ll also gather community feedback through Discord reactions, user replies, and surveys for improvement.
5. Technical Implementation & Timeline
| Milestone | Deliverables | Expected Completion Date | % of Total Grant Request | How to demonstrate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| #1 | Research The Sandbox SDK, APIs, and Smart Contract interactions | August 2025 | 45% | Published learning notes, plan and material gathering. |
| #2 | Build and deploy Discord bot with onboarding tools & SAND tracking | September 2025 | 19% | Bot live on 10+ servers with usage logs |
| #3 | Release Sandbox Entry Kit (PDF + visuals) + Publish 3 learning logs | October 2025 | 18% | Kit available for download, blogs public |
| #4 | Record and publish final smart contract tutorial + submit feedback survey | November 2025 | 18% | Video on YouTube + survey form responses |
6. Team Qualifications
This is a solo developer project by me Samuel Success (aka Mr FOMO).
- I am a computer science graduate
- I build functional Discord bots using Python (e.g., live crypto price converters, NFT sniper bot, Gas Alert systems)
- I’m currently learning smart contracts and exploring zk-based protocols
- I’m active in Web3 communities and passionate about simplifying complex ideas for beginners
- I have previously participated in technical hackathons (FSI, MTU NACOS) and ambassador programs (AnyAlt, SOIL, Nillion and Aztec)
I bring first-hand insight into what new builders need, because I am one.
7. Budget Allocation & Sustainability
Total Requested: $2500 USD
| Category | Amount | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Dev time & learning | $750 | Time spent learning SDKs, writing smart contract code, and troubleshooting |
| Bot development | $300 | Hosting, testing, and maintaining the Discord bot |
| Content creation | $400 | Tools for editing, design, and PDF/video production |
| Community testing, survey, feedback | $150 | Incentives and platform costs |
| Final delivery & polish | $300 | Video tutorial, workshop, documentation cleanup |
| Laptop Upgrade | $600 | Upgrade of my current Device from a Core i3 to an M1 air processor for faster speed and delivery. |
Post-grant sustainability:
All tools, content, and bots will be open source or publicly available. I plan to keep updating and maintaining them based on community feedback, with future monetization through additional services or tutorials if needed.
