Week: Sunday, August 17 – Saturday, August 23, 2025
Overview
This week marked an important milestone in our Web3 Onboarding & Education Grant Program (powered by SandboxDAO in partnership with The Crypto Elites). We successfully held the second workshop on Thursday, August 21st, 2025 which was bigger, more engaging, and more impactful than the first.
Most notably, our participant base grew from 20 registered students to over 70 active learners, showing clear demand and enthusiasm for blockchain and metaverse education.
Highlights of the Week
Second Workshop Event (Thursday, August 21st)
The workshop attracted strong participation, with noticeable enthusiasm from female students, many of whom showed eagerness and readiness to learn.
Speakers & Sessions:
• Ozichi recapped her Blockchain Fundamentals module.
• Qin delivered a comprehensive talk on the Web3 Ecosystem Overview.
• Storm gave an advanced lecture on Smart Contracts & Token Standards.
• MrRightNow led a hands-on training session with The Sandbox Game Maker and VoxEdit tool, guiding students in creating their first metaverse experiences. This allowed students to apply what they’ve been learning practically, boosting their confidence.
Community Support
The “Let Me Buy Your Apechain NFTs” community amplified our program by hosting a live recorded X Space, https://x.com/kewlchick_/status/1958529574637035825 featuring builders who shared their journeys in Web3 and motivated students to take the SandboxDAO grant program seriously.

Key Student Interaction
A powerful question came from a visually impaired female student:
“Since you are teaching we the students about the metaverse, is there a technology in place or near future for those who are physically challenged like me?”
This was a salient moment that reminded us of the need for inclusive design in Web3 and the metaverse, and it sparked important discussions among students and mentors.
Conclusion
The Second Workshop Event was a success, building on the strong foundation of the first. With growing numbers, stronger engagement, and milestone completion, this program is proving its ability to equip African students with blockchain skills while inspiring them to think critically about the future of Web3.
Next Steps
For the next step, students will complete the learning modules on The Crypto Elites website and begin creating a unique project using Sandbox Gaming tools. Mentor pairing has officially started, and onboarding into different Web3 communities is already in motion.
This marks the conclusion of Milestone 2, with focus now shifting toward building and program completion in Milestone 3.
