1. Overview
BOOSTDRIVE DISTRICT is now structured as a two-stage experience:
BOOST ACADEMY — an onboarding zone where players learn about DAO mechanics through NPCs and quests
Rooftop Racing — a high-energy application of the knowledge in a gamified format
This ensures a perfect match between educational goals and engaging gameplay — built 100% in Game Maker.
- A fast-paced metaverse experience to learn DAO by racing.
- Combine adrenaline racing with real DAO mechanics
2. Objectives
- Create a replayable, emotionally engaging racing experience within The Sandbox platform.
- Introduce governance concepts through interactive gameplay and intuitive risk/reward decisions.
- Contribute a new genre to the metaverse: stylized rooftop racing with strategic boost mechanics.
- Demonstrate the potential of creator-led, DAO-aligned content with real engagement value.
Designed for quick learning & instant replay.
Each race lasts around 20–30 seconds, making it ideal for casual DAO-themed engagement within The Sandbox.
BOOST ACADEMY: DAO Onboarding Zone
Players begin in the BOOST ACADEMY portal — an educational lobby inside the experience. Here they:
- Interact with NPCs explaining DAO fundamentals (votes, delegates, proposals, tokens)
- Complete onboarding mini-quests
- Learn racing mechanics and how boosts/tokens apply to governance concepts
Once finished, they unlock access to the rooftop racing zone via teleportation gates.
This ensures players are educated and immersed in DAO logic before engaging in the game.
3. Game Flow & Player Progression
BOOSTDRIVE DISTRICT is structured in two linked phases: Education ➝ Competition
Phase 1 — BOOST ACADEMY (Pre-Race Educational Flow)
Players spawn in a neon-lit lobby with three portals:
BOOST ACADEMY
RACE GATE
FUTURE
Those who enter BOOST ACADEMY:
- Interact with NPCs explaining DAO principles (votes, delegates, proposals, tokens)
- Complete basic tasks (e.g. “Talk to Delegate,” “Collect Voting Chips”)
- Learn how boosts in the race represent decision-making risks/rewards
After onboarding, they return to the Lobby to enter the RACE portal.
Phase 2 — Rooftop Racing Mechanics
- Enter the BOOSTDRIVE Lobby
Players spawn in a neon-lit lobby with three portals.
BOOST ACADEMY — for onboarding and DAO education
Two racing portals — one for each player to join the match
The race starts when both players enter their respective racing portals. Portals activate once a match is found.
-
Synchronized Teleport to Race Start
Both players are instantly teleported to the race zone. Each player stands on top of their vehicle. A glowing ring hovers above as a pre-race indicator. -
Countdown Begins
A visual countdown (3, 2, 1…) appears on screen. The race is about to start. -
Press ‘E’ to Boost — But Not Too Much!
Players can press ‘E’ to trigger a speed boost. However, excessive pressing slows the vehicle down. Precision and timing are key to winning. -
Reach the Finish Gate First
The goal is to cross the finish gate before the opponent. The first player to reach the glowing gate wins. -
Victory Teleportation & Loop Restart
The winner sees a “YOU WIN!” screen with celebration effects. Both players are teleported back to the lobby to begin the next round.

4. Visual Concept
-
Map Layout
The game world is structured as a 3x3 cyberpunk city block, built around a central drag-racing track. The environment is enclosed but feels expansive, with verticality and layers. -
Color Palette & Style
The visual tone is set by a bold neon aesthetic, dominated by pink and blue hues. Everything glows — from the streets to signage — embracing a high-energy, night-time atmosphere. -
City Elements
The city features:
• Futuristic skyscrapers
• DAO-themed banners and billboards
• Flying ships and bridges
• Animated displays and light panels
• Continuous background animations to add motion and immersion
-
Vehicle Design
The two racing sports cars & parked vehicles are:
• Highly detailed, futuristic, and aggressive in design
• Styled in line with the fatalistic tone of the city
• Consistent with the visual language of surrounding vehicles and architecture -
Crowd & Street Life
On both sides of the racing strip:
• Spectators, cyber NPCs, and bystanders animate the scene
• Futuristic parked vehicles
• Burning neon signs and street glow
• The vibe is alive — like a cyberpunk festival night
-
In-Race Effects
During gameplay, the experience is enriched with:
• Ambient soundscapes
• Visual FX (like boost trails, lighting, and glow)
• HUD messages: countdowns, “Press E to Boost”, “YOU WIN” -
Movement Boundaries
Each race ends with an automatic return to the lobby, where players can reflect on their decisions and prepare for the next challenge — reinforcing the DAO concept of iteration and feedback.
5. DAO Integration
Gamified Governance Mapping
BOOSTDRIVE is more than just a race — it’s a metaphor for decentralized decision-making.
Players are introduced to DAO principles by playing, not reading. Mechanics such as boosting, timing, and decision pressure are designed to mirror real-world governance dynamics inside The Sandbox DAO.
Game Mechanic | DAO Equivalent |
---|---|
Press ‘E’ to Boost | Voting on a proposal |
Overboosting slows down | Spamming votes weakens impact |
Perfectly-timed boosts | Strategic participation |
Win by timing, not spamming | Quality over quantity in governance |
Countdown to race | Time-limited chance to act |
Loop back to race cycle | DAO iteration & voting cycles |
This mapping helps players intuitively understand the consequences of their actions in both the game and governance — building literacy through fun.
Players understand:
- Why reckless action is inefficient
- How timing affects outcome
- That strategy beats brute force
Future DAO Expansion Ideas:
- Token-based race entries (SAND)
- On-chain scoreboards + rewards
- Community-proposed tracks via DAO
- In-game quests teaching governance

8. Track Record with The Sandbox
Nazarov Production has a proven history of collaboration with The Sandbox. In 2019, our team signed an official contract to deliver high-quality 3D voxel models for the platform’s early metaverse development.
Over 18 months, we produced more than 30 advanced voxel assets — including vehicles, spacecraft, buildings, and interactive props — all built to meet The Sandbox’s technical and artistic standards. These creations were featured by Sandbox leadership, including Sebastien Borget (COO) and Arthur Madrid (CEO), and helped set early benchmarks for visual quality within the ecosystem.
This prior contribution demonstrates our technical mastery, reliability, and alignment with Sandbox’s long-term vision.
