This SIP is to grant 120K SAND to fund "A new work Frontier, a training course on The Sandbox tools dedicated to people with disabilities with the aim of integrating them into the world of work.

What Through training programs, adjustments in the work place and in a work environment that is welcoming and supportive, we commit to promoting diversity and inclusion in the work place. We fervently believe that diversity leads to a more creative, innovative and productive workplace, and we are determined to demonstrate that people with physical and minor disability can carry out significant roles and contribute positively to our organization, guaranteeing the hiring of the trainees through internships or national contracts.
Why Gaming can be extremely beneficial for those with a disability, as it is a means to socializing, enjoyment and competition without any physical limitations. Video games can be adapted to meet the needs of players with disability, allowing them the opportunity participate fully and enjoy an inclusive experience. Furthermore, gaming can help to improve cognitive abilities, mobility and coordination of those with disability, giving them an important support to face daily challenges. The Sandbox Metaverse can be an important point of access for people with disabilities, becoming part of an ecosystem that allows everyone to have equal job opportunities by acting as a sounding board for all those who want to approach the platform itself.
How The “Metaverse and disability: a new frontier of work” is seeking 120,000 SAND to support the project. It aims to offer training and work opportunities in the metaverse for disabled children with movement problems and minor disabilities, allowing them to acquire technical skills and creativity in the field of virtual construction. The course will be developed on 32 hours of lessons (16 lessons lasting 2 hours each, with twice weekly lessons)
When If we can start with the course within 1 month with ten disabled people, and will be completed within 2 months, hiring will begin immediately and will be broken down into groups of 2 or 3 depending on the production needs, but will still be consequential without breaks.

Problem Description

Unfortunately, despite community efforts, people with disabilities too often remain marginalized in the world of work, considered unsuitable or with fewer opportunities than non-disabled individuals.

Our mission is to create an inclusive and accessible workplace for those with physical disabilities and for those with minor disabilities, giving them the opportunity of having significant and sustainable employment. Together with the Association ANPIS, we would like to guarantee that each individual has the possibility to contribute to the workplace and to realize his/her own potential, independent of his/her physical capabilities.

Solution Proposed

The “Metaverse and disability: a new frontier of work” project aims to offer training and work opportunities in the metaverse for disabled children with movement problems and minor disabilities, allowing them to acquire technical skills and creativity in the field of virtual construction.

Project description

Selection and training: Disabled persons interested in virtual construction in the metaverse will be selected, and who will be trained through online courses and practical workshops. The training will include learning the basics of virtual construction, software management and design techniques.

The creation of an inclusive team: The selected disabled persons will form a team of builders in the metaverse, where they will be able to collaborate and share ideas for the creation of virtual projects. They will be supported by industry experts who will guide them in their learning and in the realization in their dreams.

Participation in projects focused on inclusion: The inclusive team builders will participate in virtual projects focused on inclusion and accessibility for the disabled in the metaverse. These projects will aim to raise the awareness of the public about disability and to promote accessibility in the virtual world.

Job opportunities and visibility: Participating disabled persons will have the opportunity to offer their virtual construction services in the metaverse, creating custom projects for other people or companies. They will be promoted and visible within the metaverse community, creating long-term work and collaboration opportunities.

Project implementation: The project will be implemented in collaboration with associations and organizations that support the disabled offering them a platform to express their skills and talents in the field of virtual construction. It will also be promoted through online events and initiatives to raise awareness of the possibilities offered by the metaverse for disabled people.

Expected benefits: The project will offer disabled persons personal and professional growth, allowing them to develop technical skills and creativity in the metaverse. Furthermore, it will help to promote inclusion.

Conclusions: The project represents a unique opportunity for disabled children to express their abilities in the metaverse, offering them the opportunity to create, collaborate and work in an inclusive and stimulating environment. The creation of inclusive team builders will promote inclusion and diversity in the metaverse offering new perspectives and opportunities for the participants

The proposal is unique because it is dedicated to people with disabilities, therefore generally with a need for specific support, furthermore the proposal does not only provide an educational path but an entry into the world of work with a real, paid employment.

Long-term sustainability of employment for participants

There are multiple factors that support the long-term sustainability of people with disabilities who will be introduced into the world of work through this project, more specifically in the metaverse of The Sandbox.

First of all, after 2 months of specialization with Metafutura, the person with disabilities selected by the Anpis Association will be shaped with an idea of a professional path and not just an educational path, this will allow a concrete introduction into the world of work, with clear and real production objectives, with awareness of how to do business through this path. The month of hiring will then allow us to strengthen the working relationship with Metafutura and enter a long list of projects that we have activated with institutions and private companies. We plan to hire staff with stable contracts, and who better than people trained directly by the Company itself?!

Crucial point, the Anpis Association, with its important initiatives to protect the most fragile people, monitors and constantly supports people in need, based on a series of measurement tools that ensure that their partners carry out what has been agreed in a workmanlike manner.

Finally, also tying in with one of the performance measures, we have a series of projects that involve the creation of a collection on The Sandbox platform created directly by people with disabilities, allowing them to monetize their works, but also to raise awareness and attract audiences all over the world.

  • Educational Content: the trainees will be introduced to the world of work, and will also be ready to demonstrate their qualities independently following the experience with Metafutura (we do not preclude permanent employment if the right conditions are met).

  • Indirect return of image from the Press.

  • Creation at the expense of Metafutura srl ​​of an experience in The Sandbox called “Creative Horizons” aimed at giving prominence to people with disabilities, they will be able to advertise their projects and creations, launching their own digital collections.

Risk analysis

It is a completely new project, which combines support for the less fortunate with economic activity, which on the one hand generates social inclusion and on the other provides real work tools. It could happen that, being subjects with different problems, some of them may not feel satisfied or may not continue working once the paid employment has ended. To deal with possible inconveniences, ANPIS guarantees us the usual support offered in assisting all those involved.

Are there any contingency plans in place if some participants do not continue working after the training, or if the project does not meet expected outcomes?

Our plan, as previously stated, includes the involvement of 2 extra people in addition to the 10 foreseen by the course; those 2 people will be able to follow the course but will be hired only if one or two of the 10 chosen renounce the job offer offered by Metafutura. We therefore have a 20% margin of error that we believe is consistent with the training and work proposal agreed with the Anpis Association.

We have had important expressions of interest regarding the project by also speaking about it with important figures at the European political level (mentioned in the project) and we are sure that the conditions for doing well are all there, and upon completion of the planned training and professional path, we will have brought certain benefit to 12 people with disabilities who cannot find work, we will have transferred knowledge, economic resources and given a plan for their future, we will have spread the “metaverse” of The Sandbox to new users, new interlocutors and new investors, we will have associated the brand of The Sandbox with a movement that supports disabled people. Metafutura has always shown support for The Sandbox and will continue to do so by proposing innovative solutions that can add value to the platform and its users.

*The established costs take into account possible market fluctuations, in order to be able to cushion any losses in value related to $Sand for an amount equal to 10%. If the token were to lose value before distribution to Metafutura, hiring will be reduced (not the project and the training course), if it were to increase in value, hiring will be increased (gross hiring cost 1,520.00 euro). In addition to the 10 disabled students, 2 reserve students will be selected, who will be able to follow the course but will be hired only in the event of an increase in the value of the $Sand token.

THE EUROPEAN STRATEGY FOR THE RIGHTS

OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY FOR THE 10-year period 2021-2030* The strategy is aimed at improving the lives of people with disability in the 10-year period from 2021-2030. It affirms that the objectives can be achieved only through a coordinated action both on a national level and by one from the European Union, and also with a solid commitment from the Member States, and the regional and local authorities to realize the action proposed by the European Union.

VISION AND THE NECESSITY FOR ACTION

The European Union is anchored to the values of equal opportunity, of social equality, freedom and to the European Union’s Charter for fundamental rights that provide the basis to fight against any form of discrimination, setting equality as the cornerstone of the Union’s policies. The strategy takes into account the different facets of disability resulting from the interaction amidst lasting physical, mental, intellectual or sensorial impairments, which are often invisible, and the environmental barriers as well as increased diffusion of disability linked to age. It deals with the specific barriers met by those with disability, which find themselves in an intersection situation with other intersections (such as racial, ethnic, sexual and religious), in a difficult socioeconomic situation or in other situations of vulnerability. Among those who have disability, particular attention must be given to women, children, the elderly, the homeless, refugees, migrants, Rom and other ethnic minorities. The strategy supports green and digital transitions and a healthy Europe, contributing to a sustainable, innovative and fair Union. It is part of the action plan on the European pillar for Social Rights. The strategy will contribute to strengthening Europe’s role as a global partner in the fight against inequalities, in achieving the objectives of sustainable development of the United Nations and in the promotion of human rights.

The 10-year strategy defines key initiatives around four main themes.

ACCESSABILITY AS AN ENABLING FACTOR OF RIGHTS, AUTONOMY, AND EQUALITY

Accessibility is a prerequisite for full participation in society by people with disability on an equal footing with others. At Union level, The Commission will pay particular attention to the correct implementation and evaluation of all the Union’s norms that regulate accessibility and will identify the gaps and necessity of further legislative actions.

The Commission will launch a European resource center (AccessibleEU), to increase the coherence of accessibility policies and facilitate access to relevant knowledge, uniting national authorities, experts and professionals from all sectors affecting accessibility with the aim of: - Share good practices across the board;

  • Offer ideas for policy-making at a European Union and National level;

  • Develop tools and standards to facilitate the implementation of Union Law.

RIGHTS AS A CITIZEN OF THE EUROPEAN UNION

People with disabilities enjoy the same rights as other citizens of the European Union to move to another Member State or to participate in political life. By the end of 2023, the Commission will propose to create a European disability card that will have the purpose to:

  • Facilitate mutual recognition of the condition of disability between the Member States;

  • Help people with disabilities to enjoy their right to freedom of movement;

  • Promote the participation of people with disabilities in the electoral process.

PEQUAL ACCESS AND NOT DESCRIMINATION

The strategy aims to protect people with disabilities from any form of discrimination and violence. It aims to ensure equal opportunities and access, and in particular to:

  • Improve access to justice, legal protection, freedom and security; - Provide equal access to social protection, healthcare, education, goods and services, including accommodation;

  • Provide inclusive and accessible education;

  • Offer sustainable and equal access to healthcare, including rehabilitation services and prevention;

  • Improve access to art and culture, recreational activities, free time, sport and tourism;

The people are selected by the ANPIS association which already has a large audience with disabilities to which it provides support and assistance.

No, it is not the first experience, but it was certainly the most appreciated. Since 2020 some of the Metafutura members were already part of the creator Fund and in the Ambassadors program. We have developed beyond The Sandbox, on Decentraland and Nifty Island. But our core has always been The Sandbox.

ANPIS will be responsible for selecting students with disabilities, providing assistance to them and ensuring the implementation of the training and hiring plan of people as a non-profit association committed to supporting people with fragility.

Once trained, people will have an innovative profession in their hands, and will be able to decide how best to relate to the world of work.

Obviously, by doing a study path in Metafutura, we will train people to be functional to the company itself, so that during the hiring period we will have people who can contribute objectively to the company, without precluding permanent hiring if there were the conditions to continue working together.

We want “Creative Horizons” to be the main experience on disability in the metaverse, we have in mind a commercial project on The Sandbox that can have social but also economic relevance for people with disabilities, who will create the experience and then have the opportunity to market their digital works. The project wants to involve the world of disability in a general way and not be tied exclusively to those who will create it, in this way we expect to obtain significant media visibility.

We have also had discussions with some members of the European Parliament, and the reference in the appendix describes well the implementation of disability policies in Europe.

In the Budget Distribution section: “Cost of hiring and rotations 15200€” → **Could you give me more information on this cost, please?" From your Idea SIP thread, will those who have been hired still work at MetaFutura from now on?

According to our labor consultant’s calculations, each hiring will cost the company 1520.00 € per person. We cannot guarantee that after the subsidized period the employment relationship will be extended, but given our planning we expect to include permanent staff, and this staff can obviously derive from those who come from the disability support path.

The initiative appears to be focus on a limited number of people rather than offering a scalable methodology that could impact a larger population. Additionally, the team’s expertise in disability inclusivity is unclear—whether they are working with established experts or are improvising remains unknown. Moreover, it’s uncertain what recognition this project will bring to The Sandbox among disabled communities. The opposition is due to specific details of the proposal, not the broader goal of inclusivity.

I wonder how the project can be discredited in this way, after all the questions asked during the creation of the proposal have been answered and the proposition was pushed by you. Why were the objections that are being made now not made to us? We are sorry that one of the most historic creative studios like Metafutura in The Sandbox and ANPIS, one of the most important non-profit associations in Italy that has been working alongside disabled people for over 20 years are not considered “Team of experts” but a definition of improvisation is used. We firmly defend a project that truly creates inclusiveness with the direct hiring of disabled people, which gives them a remunerative and planning opportunity. Metafutura has always been committed to attracting new audiences to The Sandbox and this project can have a resonance capable of turning the lights on the metaverses and their usefulness that are slowly losing interest. We regret that the council did not even mention the creation of the “Creative Horizons” experience… We are greatly disappointed, but we are sure that the public will have another sensibility and vision of this project, useful to everyone.

After interviewing them in SANDDAO 24, I support this SIP. The MetaFuture team made clear that their role was education, and should the graduates choose it, they would hire up to 10 to employ their skills within the Sandbox metaverse, but the graduates are free to choose their own employment within the Sandbox as well.

MetaFutura has a partnership with one of the largest disability associations in Italy, garnered favorable support from the European Union Parliament, and the enabling efforts of this SIP may very well become a spotlight for the European Union Disability Strategy 2021-2030.

The PM team initially assesses SIP proposals based on their adherence to guidelines, format, requested budget, and outlined milestones. Once these aspects are confirmed, the proposal is then presented to the council. This council, composed of experienced entrepreneurs, conducts a deeper analysis, focusing on the strategic direction, sustainability, and alignment with The Sandbox ecosystem’s long-term goals.

It’s important to understand that the feedback provided by the council is intended to guide the proposal toward the best possible outcome. This is not a reflection of the value that both Metafutura and ANPIS bring to the project, but rather an effort to ensure that the project can achieve its fullest potential within our ecosystem.

Additionally, please note that the DAO team is actively working to improve our processes so that the council’s feedback can be provided a few days before the voting period, allowing for more time to address any concerns.

I don’t want to tell you how to do your job, but surely the analysis of the project in this “light” way is questionable. It is demoralizing for a work team to read such a review on a work that has been going on for months, especially because it is a very complex project that involves several professionals and many days of meetings and analysis.

I think with the interview with Lanzer, some points that were perhaps unclear through our fault, have been explained. It could perhaps be interesting to include an analysis service of this kind, with an interview, that clarifies the perplexities and goes into depth. Like an analysis of the needs of The Sandbox, what does The Sandbox mainly need? What really brings value to The Sandbox at the moment? We asked ourselves these questions, and we found a solution that satisfies the interests of the platform and of people with disabilities, creates action and novelty in The Sandbox.

I have my ideas on how I would organize such a system and on how much and how the projects proposed in DAO should really bring value to the entire ecosystem, but this is another story and it is questionable. However, I do not believe that the Format is bad, but if you detect a lack of information you could ask before creating a conditioning for those who vote.

Training disabled people to create within the Sandbox environment would do disabled people no good unless the Sandbox environment is a viable environment to financially support creators. Which it isn’t. Therefore this SIP is a SIP to create a vehicle to financially support another Corporation. Spend on development.

Without thinking I can tell you 3 certain benefits: acquisition of skills for a new profession, hiring in the company, financial compensation. Aren’t these benefits? I could list them for you and again, I recommend you watch the interview with Lanser, if the description of the SIP doesn’t convince you, or ask, we are available. You can’t think that The Sandbox will only exist if it financially supports the creators, otherwise it would already be dead.
