Hi @shont, this is a fantastic suggestion! You’ve perfectly captured a huge opportunity beyond just full game-focused templates.
We completely agree that supporting non-game diorama modes is a very cool way to attract more artistic creators and offer beginner-friendly experiences that are perfect as an exciting space to explore or Social HUBs.
This aligns very well with our long-term vision where creators can build and share their own Generator Modules on Magic Realms. Imagine community-made generators for various builds and themes, each paired with fitting asset packs. It would unlock a new wave of beautiful, artistic UGC.
A huge thank you to everyone who participated in our polls across the forums and X these past days! We want to build Magic Realms as much as possible, community-driven. Your input is truly valuable as we finalize the roadmap for Magic Realms.
The polls are now closed. After combining all the results, we have a clear picture of what the community is most excited about:
Based on this feedback, we are excited to commit to our next modules. Following the initial AI-Powered Quiz Game will be the Parkour and Deathmatch modules. We will try to provide more modules soon after, and especially hope that the builders’ community will also create content for Magic Realms over time so that many more game genres can be made available for everyone.
Additionally, thanks to the important feedback from delegates like @sebga, we will be adding a dedicated “Ownership & Licensing” section to the final SIP. This will ensure complete clarity on how DAO funding grants the community perpetual, free use of the platform.
Thank you again for your engagement. We’re now refining the proposal together with the DAO team for the final version that goes live for voting on Snapshot.
but if dioramas can be generated with generative tools and launched first,
it could be exciting to run a “Magic Realm” campaign where empty LANDs are filled with beautiful voxel scenes.
If the shapes come out well as intended, it could spark a lot of reactions.
Hi @shont we completely agree and see huge potential here.
Running a “Magic Realm” campaign to fill LANDs with beautiful, generative dioramas first is a fantastic way to build momentum while the more complex game logic is in development. We have been exploring various AI-driven approaches for creating stunning landscapes ourselves, and the results are very exciting. We’re holding back on sharing those specific experiments for now only to avoid confusion with the current SIP’s scope, as it is quite a different type of “generative” creation than what we use for the more controlled game modules needed here. But we can’t wait to build Magic Realms far beyond this first phase.
This brings up a great point, so let’s make this an open call:
To all the creators out there, if you have ideas or are already testing generative terrain or similar parametric-driven tools, we would love to connect. We envision Magic Realms acting as a gateway and enabler to help bring your innovations to The Sandbox platform. Let’s collaborate!
We are super excited to see Magic Realms (SIP-35) has now entered the voting phase on Snapshot!
The discussions over the past few weeks have been fantastic, and we’re more motivated than ever to build this platform that will empower every LAND owner and creator in the ecosystem. For an overview of what Magic Realms is all about, please read the first post in the thread here, and we’ve just put together a TL;DR thread on X HERE.
We encourage everyone to get involved! Ask us anything here on the forums or on our socials about the project. If you believe in this vision, we would be grateful if you could share it with the Sandfam and beyond to make sure every voice is heard.
A special thanks to the @Delegates who have already jumped in with crucial questions and valuable feedback. Your engagement has been truly helpful in shaping this proposal. For any delegates we haven’t connected with yet, we are here and happy to answer any remaining questions you may have.
We will also hold an AMA and post some more insights on how Magic Realms works and brings value to the Sandbox community and platform over the next days and weeks.
I will be voting yes. SAND RUSH are the creators of the wildly successful Magic Palette tool (SIP-6). This is yet another creator tool by a proven partner with a successful track record.
Thanks a bunch for your support and trust @Lanzer . It means a great deal to our team.
You’ve hit on a key point we want to make clear for everyone: Magic Realms is the direct evolution of Magic Palette. Our plan is for the new platform to include all the powerful level design features that creators already love, plus a brand new “Magic Realms Mode” for generating complete, playable games. It’s the best of both worlds, everything you can do now, plus so much more.
Hi @pepe , hope you’re doing great! I had a quick question — when a new version of Game Maker is released, does Magic Realms get optimized accordingly? Since new versions often come with changes like UI/UX updates, new features, and rule adjustments, I was wondering how Magic Realms adapts to those changes.
Hi @Anandjoice, that’s a great and very important question.
Our team is committed to updating Magic Realms to ensure it remains compatible with the latest versions of the Game Maker. While the timeline for each update will depend on the scale of the changes, our goal is to adapt as quickly as possible.
For example, our team is already working on updating Magic Palette’s export options to support the new Game Maker 0.12 version that was just released. We’re focused on making sure maps can be exported as the new Singleplayer, Multiplayer, and Legacy modes to make them fully compatible with GM.
Keeping our tools in sync with The Sandbox is a top priority for us.
Thanks for flagging this. You’re right, the section title was unfortunately stripped out. Unfortunately, as we discussed with Paul, the Snapshot platform has significant formatting limitations. It stripped out most of our section titles, images, and links, and has a strict character limit. As you might have seen, not the full proposal can be reflected as a Snapshot entry. Once the proposal was on-chain, these formatting issues were locked in.
We did, however, include the text clarifying our ownership model and commitment to the community, as promised in our discussions. You can find it here in this section:
Our commitment to maintaining the platform is already in action, we are currently updating the Magic Palette export function for the new GM 0.12 release to make it compatible with the new Single Player, Multiplayer and Legacy game format.
We appreciate you ensuring every detail is covered for the DAO. Hope this helps clarify!
Thank you very much, Pepe.
I have a question: I understand that the product belongs to you, but is there at least a percentage of the profits generated by the Magic Realm tool being returned to the DAO?
If the DAO is funding this project, it seems fair — beyond simply granting free access for the Sandfam — that a share of the revenue goes back to the DAO, right?
I understand that, for now, this may seem like a secondary matter. But since the project is based on a paid subscription, it feels only logical that the DAO should be rewarded fairly in the event of the tool’s success.
Honestly, I would really like to support this initiative 100%. But there are clearly some missing pieces, and I think it’s a shame that no one seems interested in putting everything clearly on the table and handling it professionally.
Sometimes it feels as if decisions are being made as though money doesn’t matter.
Nothing personal, Pepe — rest assured — but I’m genuinely surprised that no questions about the DAO’s future or protection are being asked, while the vote is already almost at 100% in favor.
I must admit, that completely baffles me.
I agree with @sebga’s take on this matter. While I can see how this will benefit TSB and it’s community at large, the DAO has to also ensure financial sustainability for future builders as well. Unlike FIAT, there’s limited SAND that the DAO can give away.
The DAO has funded Magic Palette without asking for a financial return. An element of revenue sharing should be encompassed in these 2nd and all subsequent SIP that relates to MP and MR.
Thank you for continuing this important discussion. There appears to be a core misunderstanding we must clarify immediately:
Magic Realms is NOT a paid subscription tool.
Why would you assume MR will run under a paid subscription model @sebga? Our primary mission, funded by this SIP, is to maximize adoption and fill empty LANDs by providing a powerful free tool to the entire community. Putting core features behind a paywall would directly contradict this goal and limit the platform’s reach and impact.
However, your point about financial sustainability and a return to the DAO is fully valid, and our long-term vision does account for this.
Our plan is to first build the platform and expand to a strong user base. In a future phase, beyond the scope of this initial SIP, we intend to launch a marketplace for optional, paid UGC content, like themed Block Bundles or even Game Modules made by creators.
Once that creator economy is established on the platform, we are fully committed to implementing a revenue share from those marketplace sales that will flow back to the DAO. We actually already discussed this directly with the DAO team, and we all concluded that this will be the best way to set this up.
We hope this provides the clarity you need. The tool this SIP funds remains a free public good, and then the future economy built on top of it will provide a return to the DAO.
