SIP - Chrysalis Quest: Sandbox community platform

Interested in other people’s opinion but here’s my take on including this in the UGC content stuff:

Given this is a decentralized and open play system, there will inevitably be an ecosystem of various companies providing services that integrate with the Sandbox and make play more enjoyable. I don’t want us to limit ourselves by thinking it should all go through one website, or it should always be integrated into the Sandbox website.

While obviously the best case scenario is that Sandbox has infinite bandwidth to accomplish everything, knows exactly the best products to make, and it all lives on one website, this is also obviously a fantasy. The reality is we need to empower third party teams to experiment and go in many different directions to see what works best.

As it pertains to this project, I don’t think we need to try and shoehorn it into the other UGC RFP, if we think this is a good idea we should do it.

After reading Grumysh’s answers and everyone’s different opinions, I would be tempted to agree with cryptodiplo’s opinion. If it’s a good idea why not implement it.
But I remain curious about what is planned with the UGC platform. It seems to me that we are close in terms of planned functionality. It would be good to avoid redundancies.
We may still be too small to afford to increase spending on platform development.

Hi @Grumysh, nice to see Ashara Studios here.

I find this proposal both fascinating and intriguing. During the Builders Challenge 2, I had the chance to take a look at what you were working on (the website), and reaching second place shows that you clearly have a solid understanding of what’s needed—not just in game development but also as builders with a strong vision for the ecosystem.

I’m curious to know how well this idea might align with the DAO’s initiative to develop a UGC platform. While I understand that the process for that proposal is already underway as @theKuntaMC, I would like to know if this type of platform would fit with the DAO’s proposal for a UGC Platform, how close or how far it is from that.

I also have a couple of questions for @Grumysh :

  1. During BC2, I saw how you used your page and thought, “Wow, I’d love to have something like that.” Then I started wondering about the possibility of having something more personalized, perhaps tailored to my studio or the games I’ve developed. Is there a way for builders to customize their pages? For example, could mission icons or other elements be personalized? If this is already possible, what kinds of customization options are currently available?
  2. Regarding monetization, if a player purchases a pass that allows them to earn an NFT, where would that NFT come from? Would it be part of a collection managed by your platform, or could it come from a collection created by the developer of the game in which it was earned?

I look forward to your answers, as I believe they will help clarify the potential and possibilities your proposal brings to the table.

Hello @rocksymiguel,

Thank you very much for your questions.

  1. Regarding the level of customization , each studio will be able to personalize their banner, icon, description, social media links, quests, and rewards within the platform. These elements are crucial as they help players make decisions when viewing complete and well-crafted profiles.

  2. As for the NFTs in the season pass , it will work as follows:

  • We will have a pool of NFTs available on Polygon and The Sandbox for each season.
  • We’ll organize art contests with creators to select assets, which will then be minted and distributed as rewards.
  • We’ll issue calls for creators who wish to add NFTs to the pool, guaranteeing them missions from their games as part of the season and featuring their logo as a sponsor of the season.

Let us know if you have any other questions!

@Grumysh, thank you for the idea.

We believe it’s very important to encourage players to try different experiences. Having a “quest” mechanism could be an excellent proposal and also a fun dynamic.

When we developed our proposal, our primary goal was to establish guidelines for creating a platform where players can:

  • Explore different experiences, search for them, and filter them.
  • Consult related analytics.
  • Earn rewards through a simple mechanism by trying and rating experiences, provided there is someone willing to pay for it.

We believe this is something that currently doesn’t exist. For example, in The Sandbox version, filters and conditions are controlled under their own rules.

While there are some points of overlap between this project and ours, we’ve always envisioned them as features for a future stage.

However, there is a key difference:

If no one is willing to create or pay for quest rewards, the platform’s entire value proposition weakens.

That said, on our platform, the experiences would still be shared, the analytics would continue to be displayed, and even just 1 user will have access to them.

If we are selected after the vote, we would love to collaborate with you, listen to your ideas, and work to either integrate these features into our project or step aside to allow you to build them in the future. We could even leverage the stack you have already developed!

This approach would help us avoid duplicating efforts in the development!

Additionally, your team’s deep knowledge of The Sandbox ecosystem would be a significant asset to our engineers.

We hope to collaborate with you in the future!

Before wrapping up, we do have a couple of questions we’d like to ask:

  1. Do you envision a platform where different games and ecosystems coexist, or one that focuses solely on The Sandbox?

  2. From what we’ve seen on your site, some of the proposed features seem to be already developed. If your proposal advances, which elements are currently completed?

Hi @Gonzacolo,

Thank you very much for your feedback. Regarding our platform, we view it as something essential for developers, as these features were born out of our own needs within The Sandbox ecosystem. To be honest, the features you mentioned in your comment seem to already be implemented within The Sandbox platform. As developers, for example, we don’t feel the need for our games to be ranked on an external platform. What we truly focus on is finding ways to retain users and, through metrics, increase user flow within our experiences. This means that while The Sandbox provides us with certain metrics, we add additional metrics that are useful for game creators and designers, all while offering a unified user experience for players.

Regarding your two questions:

  1. Our platform is designed to create and add value to The Sandbox ecosystem. Of course, we recognize that many of these tools could be beneficial to other ecosystems, but we will consider that depending on the health of the ecosystem.

  2. These features were developed specifically for Ashara Studios, meaning they need to be reviewed, adapted, and scaled to become a comprehensive solution for all studios. While they provide a strong foundation and a demo of the project, significant development remains to ensure these features work effectively for all creators and their players on the platform.
