SIP-11: The Sandbox DAO to Fund the Sandbox Ambassador Program

Hi @Lanzer could you move to the conversation here if you want further to discuss your SIP with the community.

What are you guys doing about the current ambassador MonkeyDLuffy who is using over 20 accounts to farm rewards?

Do they talk about this in the AMA? I don’t think so.

Nope they haven’t . They are just talking to themselves .

My post is hidden now, they flagged it

I just finished listening to the AMA and my question is why was the SIP put forward if the specifics of the Ambassador program are still being worked out on the backside? All the information should have been finalized, worked out and publicly available before the SIP went live? This is, in my opinion, one of the biggest issues with the SIP implementation. They are being voted on before information is available, so we are voting on things with only half a view on how it will actually work.

I feel uncertain about it still. Although the second half where Amit and Seb explained a bit more about not forcing Ambassadors to broadcast prepared content did ease half of my objections, the implementation is still vague.

I do find it interesting how they connected the Ambassador program to the DAO. At 30:15, Amit mentions that in the future, the goal is for the Ambassadors themselves to have a role in interviewing and accepting Ambassador candidates.

I wondered to myself…why wasn’t that the plan this time?

The ambassador program will still go ahead without the DAO support. We are just asking the DAO to provide some SAND amount towards it. But it will happen regards

I love you Pandapops but it sounds like you are saying they need permission to spend money out of their own account.

The sandbox and the sandbox DAO are two separate entities.
The money the DAO holds isn’t for the sandbox to just use. It’s to be distributed based on SIPS.
As the ambassador program is community based it makes sense to look for help for funding towards this initiative.
As mentioned in the AMA. The speakers said that for this SIP the DAO are just providing monetary support, the program itself will remain within the sandbox.
All I know is that the ambassador program will continue regardless of the SIPs outcome as the SIP isn’t for voting on whether the program exists or not. Just whether the DAO should help fund it.

Panda I think what I’m reading here plus in discord and Twitter is that the DAO and Sandbox are intended to be separate, but there are a lot of things turning a good faith SIP like this to suspicion and mistrust.

I’m gonna do an AMA Reaction today or tomorrow on this.

It’s not you or any one person, it’s everything combined into a perfect storm. I’ll lay it out

  1. TSB submitted a SIP to spend money on a program that doesn’t originate from SandFam or answer to the DAO in any way. It comes across as “here is the answer now please vote”.
  2. There is a delay in community SIPs going to vote, and most SIPs going to vote are TSB
  3. There is a perception that the community has very little say in the leadership of the DAO (there is no community member on Council or Advisory Board or DAO team)
  4. The AMA was closed to only approved speakers + pre-approved questions and the forums couldn’t facilitate the community discussion or conflict resolution needed to relieve the tension. What was needed was a conversation with Amit and @AllMyFriends
  5. A lot of the interaction at the AMA were with people who didn’t interact with the DAO during the public comment period and some answers repeated already given forum answers without much changed.
  6. @AllMyFriends was revealed to be Kelsey Dolby, who didn’t speak. I think this was a missed opportunity.
  7. You were brought in to provide some structure, but you don’t have much interaction with the DAO so it seemed more like damage control.
  8. The mentions of disagreement and debate was not addressed openly, the language used to describe it sounded too “marketing speak”
  9. Many wanted to hear a genuine and personal conversation.
  10. Responses sounded like they were meant to convince voters that everything is calm and okay. A look into this SIP forum post reveals that it isn’t.

1. How many ambassadors are currently in the program?

Currently, there are roughly 35 ambassadors. However, at any given time about five are active. With this relaunch, we plan to expand the program to welcome in additional ambassadors that reflect the breadth of our global community. All ambassadors, both new and existing, will be required to sign a contract, NDA, and code of conduct when they join the program.

2. Under what conditions would a newly accepted Ambassador NOT receive compensation? (Under “Who can apply it says acceptance doesn’t guarantee payment”).

This line is stipulating that applying (filling out the form) does not guarantee you will be accepted into the program and/or receive payment.

3. What stopped TSB from welcoming in even more members without this SIP?

Historically, the focus has primarily been on Community Management and fostering the current ecosystem. As the platform has grown and entered new markets, we see now as a great time to revamp the program and allow more of our community to participate, and be rewarded for, building the ecosystem with us. We felt proposing the SIP to the DAO made the most sense given the goals of the Ambassador Program and DAO are aligned.

4. What about this does not allow you to project the exact number of Ambassadors?

There are a few reasons for this. First, ambassadors have variable compensation based upon what track they are in and time commitment they are able to fulfill. Secondly, we could not predict the quality of candidates who would apply and therefore, were unable to determine how many people could fulfill the roles.

5. For the second milestone, what “key metrics” were you referring to?

  • Number of active members in the program
  • Number of assets delivered by the content creators
  • Impressions garnered by KOLs in the program
  • Number of Tickets reviewed and addressed by Community Managers in Discord

6. Will the management of the program change from The Sandbox to the DAO?

The Sandbox will remain the manager of the ambassador program. The DAO is providing the funding for the program and will be able to request support from ambassadors to create content, promote voting and participate in DAO initiatives and more. Ambassadors will work closely with The Sandbox team to understand priorities, deliverable due dates, and collaborate on what projects make the most sense for them to work on depending on upon their skill set or content area.

7. Allegations of Cheating:
We take any allegations of cheating and/or farming seriously. Any and all requests are reviewed by our internal teams and run through our anti-cheat parameters.

8. Ambassador Compensation:
I’ve gone ahead and attached a photo of the proposed compensation by Ambassador Track and commitment level (Full or Lite). Please note that the compensation may change as the program evolves and/or market conditions change.

For KOLs specifically, the compensation is scaled based upon follower count.

Nice response! Thank you for that response, I think that helps a bit more.

Are you able to come on SANDDAO Podcast? I know only a few days remain, but quorum is still an obvious challenge to overcome.

Regarding this, what does “asset” mean?

The first thing that comes to my mind is voxel art asset.
If that is the case, will Content Creator only focus on Voxel Art?
I would like to know what asset means in this case.
There can also be Game Maker related content, both Game Maker tutorials, level design tutorials, etc with Game Maker, and many other TSB related content.

Hey rocksymiguel.

Assets is generally a marketing term. It doesn’t solely relate to assets how we use it meaning just VoxEdit assets.

It’s static art, video content etc.
Whether it’s a short in game video or you talking about something in particular like the monthly avatar reward drops, or even content related to game maker.

I hope this helps

Thank you Panda for clearing up my doubt.

The compensation table that was shared about the different types of ambassadors and rank (lite/full) compensation, is it based on the funding that will be available, with Sandbox DAO if the SIP wins or without?
If this SIP does not win, will the compensation be less in the Ambassador Program that will still be in place?

Hey Rocksymiguel

I can take this question.

So the compensation amount wont change, we will just not be able to onboard as many compared to the additional support from the DAO funding.

Do keep in mind the above compensation is subject to change based on large fluctuations in SAND price to keep compensation within a fair range.
