Dankoyy, Crawler, and I are working on completing the Miro board and Experience Asset List detailing the whole project. So far so good, we’re ironing out the particulars on ideas vs game mechanic realities and I think we’ll end up with something closer to 100 voxel assets.
It will still be multiplayer, and we’re maximizing player experience with as few “E” clicks as possible…like you all, it was tough in those early Sandbox days where we had endless “E” presses to complete an experience (who here remembers that one futuristic cyber one where every sentence was an “E” press that literally took us 200+ to get through?)
We are way, way ahead of schedule. SIP-32 called for the development timeline to begin “when Game Maker 0.12 becomes available”. Game Maker is still in version 0.11, and per Sandbox’s Roadmap on Trello, 0.12 shows “Summer 2025” as the release date. We’re asking the Sandbox Product Team if they have a closer estimate of the release.
Our Timeline included 12 weeks (about 3 months) of development and testing. Once 0.12 is released, our 2-week Phase 1 begins. We are well on our way to finalizing design & storyboard, I’d put us at 60% complete. Dankoyy already started the prototype, 20% of the way through that. Crawler already started the voxel art, 10% through that.
Looking at the timeline, it might be worth asking for early access to GM 0.12. Based on what’s been shared, there are some noticeable changes and it’ll likely take time to get familiar with.
Not only help explore new features and fresh ideas, also avoid rework if certain features get deprecated later on.
Last update our Design & Storyboard was 75% complete, we are now 95% complete.
Learn Areas A, B, C, D, and E designs are complete.

We are on track to complete Milestone 1 (Design & Storyboard) by Aug 20, 2025.
Despite Milestone 2’s Sep 4th due date, we are already 50% of the way through prototyping the whole experience. The frequency of our team meetings and @dankoyy’s expertise in Game Maker resulted in us prototyping far sooner than anticipated.
Despite Milestone 3’s Sep 12th due date, we are already 15% of the way through voxelizing all of our assets. @Crawler_Studio’s experience is resulting in some really, really impressive-looking assets. I think you all are going to really love it.
All in all, things are going well.
SIP-32 Update History
Update #1: SIP-32 accepted by DAO, begun Milestone 1
SIP-32 contract signed with DAO Admin Team, milestones were simplified, combining the 7 on our original RFP down to 4, and I had to recalculate some of the progress percentages.
Finalize the gameplay loop, design of the learning areas, dialogue tree, quest tree, and provide a visual storyboard of the whole experience.

Build the experience in Game Maker with placeholders, be able to trigger the win condition after completing all quests.

Completed Oct 3rd, 2 days behind schedule. Late primarily due to frequent Game Maker crashes during development, Game Client crashes during test, and the lengthy time it took to correct gameplay issues. BUT WE DID IT

25% complete conducting Community Playtest. Scheduled for Oct 8th during official Sandbox Twitch stream with Pandapops. Need to conduct the playtest, note the bugs, and fix them.
